This is such a neat idea. I still have my wedding dress and even though it is stained (from being in storage in Galveston heat and humidity) in the back, I think a pillow or something would be nice. Ooh my another project!

Sounds like a good way to use a once-in-a-life-time dress. I think (but I could be wrong) that very few daughters will wear their mom's wedding dresses. My neice used a part of her mom's and my mom's wedding veil in her veil and my dtr plans to incorporate the remainder on her dress/headpiece somewhere. I think making something the couple will see and use regularly is a nice option to storing a dress that may never be used again.

It does look very Christmas-y, but I sure hope it is a fake tree she is putting it under! I shudder to think of sap getting on it. And my old cat used to barf all over my tree skirt. You are doing a great job, though! I just couldn't do it. I will save my dress and hopefully my daughter, a granddaughter, or a niece will want to wear mine.

When we went to the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory, they had bears in one of a kind outfits. One was a bride. the new owner of that bear sent them her wedding dress they cut it down and made the bear a wedding dress exactly like her dress

My cousin's wife loved the idea of wearing her mother's wedding dress. She was a different size than her mom though, but they made it work for her. The cut the dress apart and used the fabric for various parts of her 'new' dress. This idea is very clever too.

Great idea! It is so true, so many things are saved for a "Special Occasion", when everyday should be special. Smart girl, now she can enjoy her dress everyday. She is really brave to let her beautiful, expensive wedding dress get cut up!

I don't know about making a Christmas tree skirt out of a wedding dress..... that seem a bit tacky. My daughter had her's made into a beautiful baptismal gown when she was expecting her first child. Seems a bit more appropriate to me.

I have heard that some brides take there dress & have "Christening" gowns made for when they have babies. I think that's such a sweet thing to do. Maybe if you have fabric left you might suggest using some for that.
