Growing long hair
#24
I had hair down to my knees and donated 24" to locks of love last year. I have grown it out again. It is now about down to my butt again. I usually wear it in a pony tail or in a bun. I never wear it down because it just gets in my way. I wash mine every other day. It is very fine, but I have alot of it. It is very shiny and in overall good health for a 40 yo. I keep it trimmed to keep the ends from looking split. It is all one length.
I will say that most men love long hair.

I quit coloring mine and it is a pretty cool mix of salt and pepper,I wash it maybe every 3-4 days,I feel that it is healthier feels thicker and softer.but i keep it short.cuz i hate messing with hair, never ever blow dry it ,use only a wide tooth comb when it was long, now just run my hands thru it,after i was and im good to go

I want to stop coloring mine with chemicals and use henna and/or indigo. I saw a woman's hair that she used a certain mixture and something like Manic Rose (not sure of that name). It was a deep burgandy red and beautiful.
I have the two streaks of grey in the front and I kind of like it. Maybe I won't dye that part.

Manic Panic, maybe?
I used that on my hair a looooong time ago, it's supposed to be 1 week temporary wash-out, but since the ends of my hair were sooooo blonde, it stained my hair. I had just dyed the bottom 4" or so, this insane fushia, it was really really awsome, but it didn't wash out like it was supposed to. After a couple of months, I cut my hair because it wouldn't wash out.

I too have long hair.....not long enough to sit on yet, but close to it. I have always had long hair. I shampoo every 3 or 4 days, depending on time of year and the need. I like using the conditioner with balsam and protein in it......it seems to make it stronger, but I do use the other conditioners also. My son got me a towel wrap (those are great!) for Christmas last year and don't know what I ever did without one!!
I have donated my hair to "locks of love". I do not comb or brush my hair while it is wet. I do comb around my face (it is shorter) and just pin mine up with a clip to dry naturally before combing or brushing it.
From time to time I do need to comb it while wet, and at those times, I use a big comb with large teeth and always start combing at the ends to untangle and work my way upward. Using a regular brush on wet hair stretches it and will make it break off.
Mine is usually up in the summer because of the heat and down in the winter if the static isn't that bad. It is good for warmth also.
I love my long hair and I don't see anythng in the near future that will make me want to cut it. I am 55 and still going long!

I'll have to look again at exactly what recipe the woman said she used. I have dyed my hair a dark burgandy before and I loved it.
Do you find that there are people who have some issue about an older woman having long hair? It's like we're looked at as aging hippies or something.

I watched Oprah years ago and they had a segment on about women and long hair......."they" were saying that once a woman reaches 40 that her hair should not be any longer then shoulder length!!
I had two aunts that had hair down to their hips and that is how I remember them.....always. I loved their hair.
Just because people think the older you get the shorter your hair should be doesn't mean that I go by that. My brother in law once told his wife that the reason why she wanted her hair longer was because it made her look younger...........DUH......... I'll keep my long hair if that is the case.
