Your hair is gorgeous either way. But I know how it feels like. Mine tends to be straight and I want curls and one of my DDs has a curly mop and wants it straight. She went through a phase of straightening it with a straight iron but after some time it dried it and ruined her hair. She then tried to use a relaxer and enjoyed that but right now she is in the curly phase. Have fun!!!!

I would give anything to have a natural wave in my hair. When it was really long some 36 years ago I would put it in those large rollers and sit under the dryer for 2 or 3 hours to get it all dry. Then it would rain with in 50 miles and the curl would fall out.
Now I pay to have it permed every 10 weeks. I wish I could go back to the long straight hair but I think that is for younger people.

i had it done starting at 14 until i was 50. it was a smelly, yucky professional process. they used a white pasty stuff and stood there for 2 hours combing it constantly to stretch it straight.
i loved it all. as to growing it back in, it grows in pretty well because it's so long that it's heavy and the weight keeps it fairly straight. at least that was my experience. my hair was about the length of yours.
i had trouble one time when they left it on too long and the hair got badly damaged. when i brushed my hair, it broke off at the crown of my head. good thing i had enough hair to cover it up.
i started in the days of french twists and ponytails and my hair just wanted to frizz in the rain. your hair is beautiful, then and now, but what i like best are your dimples. i can't buy those.
