Ok ladies please don't think I am stupid cause I really am not, though sometimes I do question myself! GGG! Anyway I have a new camera, its a Nikon Coolpix and for the life of me I can not figure out how the heck to make a picture black & white. Is it the camera or is it on my computer that I do this? Also what picture software would you go with, I am using paint to edit my pictures and I using windows to import them off my computer. I am so use to Kodak cameras. The verdict is still pending on if I even like this camera.

In the menu of the camera, is there a place to change it?

I use Photo Shop, and I can change them to black and white there too :D:D:D

I rely on my adult kids to show me the tricks/tips to my new electronic/computerized purchases LOL What takes me hours/days to figure out, takes them minutes/seconds

it would be on the computer that you would change it. Did your new camera come with a CD at all? it should have some software on it so you can change it easily like you did with the kodak software.

Use the Nikon downloading software. It's sooooo much easier than anything else.

I just got a new Nikon Coolpix S9100 this week. For mine, to change to black and white, you have to change the dial on top to "Effects" mode, and select "High Contrast Monochrome". This lets you take pics in black and white, or you can also edit them on the computer as others have said. Hope this helps!

It's on one of the cds that came with the camera. With it you don't have to do anything other than plug in your camera and turn it on. Then click "start download" down at the bottom and your photos are downloaded. Super easy. You need to move them to whatever folders you want them in from there.
