I got a Nikon CoolPix for Christmas and I'm have trouble getting good close up pictures. I have tried different settings and just can't figure it out. My pictures are just not coming out clear and sharp. Anyone have a camara like this?

To use the macro on mine, I have to use a tripod or have extremely steady hands, or they will blur.

Well they are not really blurry, they just don't look clear and sharp to me. I have tried inside and out and just not happy with what I'm getting. Here is the latest one I had a fight with.

those funky chickens are coming across bright and clear. Sometimes it's the PC monitor that makes the pics look different.

Try setting the camera on the table and taking a close up.

That is what mine looked like too. The slightest movement and I cannot get crisp, sharp pictures.

Great idea! I'll try that next time! There are so many settings on this camera that it drives me loco! :x

Mine has quite a few also...It is ok when you are playing around, but frustrating when I want to hurry and take a picture.

There sometime is a depth of field so it will only have one spot that is in Focus. It also depends on where the center spot is what you are trying to focus on or there is a gap. Like between people.

I have an early Coolpix and love it. Mine has an icon of a lady's head to use as a pre-set for portaits, and all sorts of other canned settings. The tele and zoom features are just below the trigger.

Did yours come with a tutorial on a diskette? I think that is how I learned the features on mine, but, like I said, mine is a lot older.
