How important is having a cup of coffee first thing in the morning to you?

I can function without that mug in the AM but I really, really enjoy it. I sit quietly in our back room, with a fire going (only in the cold weather of course), crochet a bit and watch the sun come up. It's a ritual that starts my day off peacefully and pleasantly. I drink mine straight - no milk, no sugar!

Interesting! I have had A-fib for over 15 years and coffee has never affected my heart rate. I did have ablations done in 2001 and take heart meds and blood thinner daily.

My vice was a tea every morning (and the 10 cups a day) but I had to give it up. It was making my heart go skippy do da and decaffinated is not the same. It's amazing what you can give up if you're forced to.

I drink coffee in the morning but I'm perfectly capable of "operating" without it. I usually drink more in the colder months than in the summer, in fact, most of the time, the smell of coffee during the summer makes me sick to my stomach.

No coffee for me. I love the taste, but it does not love me.
I do drink tea and admit to being a tea snob. I too, like the ritual of boiling the kettle, heating up my tea pot and measuring out just the right amount of tea leaves.
I often do not get to enjoy my first cup until a bit later in the morning. Before it, I drink a glass of water and perhaps a cup of hot water. In the evening, I drink plain hot water. I would love to drink tea, but also want to get to sleep at a reasonable hour. I do have decaf tea once in a while. I also have a variety of herbal teas, and specialty teas that I enjoy. Some teas have their own tea pot and mug.
