I have my sewing room and I 'm taking over the never used formal dining room to share with my grandkids. Dan has the den and garage, we share our bedroom, kitchen and family room. The other rooms are up for grabs.

We have a two story, 4 bedroom, full basement, home. The kids are married with kids and homes of their own, so we sort of split up the space.. I have nearly half of the basement, full of sewing machines and books and fabric.. One upstairs bedroom with a closet full of quilts and dressers in there full of fabric.. one bedroom is his hobby room.. and we share the other bedroom (computers and printers in there) and master bedroom. Downstairs is my big embroidery machine and a half a ton of projects around it... otherwise we share the rest of the downstairs, except on cleaning day... then the whole thing is mine alone!! garage is all his... he can have it, too dusty and hot out there for me to enjoy.

Steinar has a few shelves in the sewing room and 1/2 of the living room sofa. I figure if I clean it and care for it, then it's mine!

When my son moved to NYC after college, I took over his bedroom for my sewing room but left his bed up. The first time he came home he whined about not having a bedroom anymore. I told him he wouldn't sleep in there anyway because there is no TV (he took it with him) and to go sleep in the small TV room where there is a futon. He only visits about 2x per yr. Last Sept our daughter moved out and I'm slowly taking over that room too. We got a new mattress and moved the old one into her room and there is a TV in there because she didn't take hers. Oh and I did take down DS bed eventually. I also have quilting stuff in both closets now, although sharing with some of kids stuff still at home.

I have a 23 x 28' room in the basement that is a walk out and I have my sewing and crafting set up in there and that is where my quilt group meets also. I have a couple of closets in there too and although it is not fancy at all ..it is pleasant and I have lots of room...I have about 8 gals that meet each wk at my house for group..we used to quilt more but now it seems it is more portable for them to bring knitting or embroidery etc.
I have a big walk up attic that is ideal for storing batting and stuffing etc so that works well..
It is just dh and I so I have all the room I can possibly use and more than enough to clean lol
