I am in the process of a wedding dress quilt. Hubby was apprehensive about it too. So I bought a 2k wedding dress for 75.00 on craigslist. Absolutely beautiful. I'm using that to make a quilt so not to ruin mine in case it all goes bad

Have you ever heard of making baby christening quilts out of the Mother's wedding dress.
This is what I did, in fact, because I am from the era, when we used can-cans [everyone know what they are?] the skirt had so much fabric, and I got 2 christening gowns from my dress.

Gee, now I'm thinking I should have kept my wedding dress instead of leaving it on the floor of the guest bedroom when I moved out and divorced!!   I decided that HE could take it to Salvation Army! :-D :-D

My DD1 was married during January so she also ordered a matching street length cape to go with her dress. She is saving her gown but is having small blankets made, three of them, one for each of her children. She will give them out as they have their first children. I think it's a wonderful plan!

My wedding dress was professionally cleaned and boxed and has sat at the back of my closet for 37 yrs. I guess right now I can give up hope that anyone else will wear it since I had sons and both my DDILs were not my size. Taking it out and making a quilt sounds kind of cool. Not sure I could cut into it. Please post your finished quilt. It will help me seriously think of doing the same thing.
