Yikes! I'd be upset too and daylight will sure look good tomorrow. Maybe you can get some sleep then. I bet after reading your scary report that everyone checks their doors and windows tonight.

Why? I've personally known it to be a deterrent.

I am so sorry this happened to you. You did all the right things. I hope there is a patrol car that will be observing your location through the night. I am very grateful that you have dogs.

How frightening for you! Do you have any neighbors that are close? Hopefully the state police will keep a very close eye on you tonight. Please keep us posted. I'll be up for a while yet.

Keep the gun on you and keep a level head. Wish we could be there with you, it sounds like you did all the right things but you still need to be vigilant. Hugs and prayers.

Do you have a neighbor or friend that can come stay with you tonight?
Why would you ever let anyone know you had a gun? These people may come back to rob you just for the gun!!

I'm with you - I keep my pistol beside my bed - especially if I am here all by myself. You did the right thing in calling 911. I know you will be unable to sleep though!

I think if that happens again, you should let them know you have a gun with you - maybe that would scare them off from your house, at least. As for the pups - do you think you could train them to use a puppy wee-wee pad in the house? That way they wouldn't have to go out after dark at all. Please be careful, and let us know if you find out any more. God bless.
I have newspapers. They will potty on those.

I'd probably not sleep for a week! Hope the law lets you know one way or the other.

In my mind? They're less likely to come back if they know I have the gun, and am confident in how I handle it and they think I'll not have a problem using it.

True, it might not do much good if I'm standing there, gun in hand, and the hand is shaking so much that they know the chances of getting hit even if I DO pull the trigger are slim.. but my hands don't shake, call it artificial confidence, but I would not be afraid to use it, nor would I miss if I did....
