Try Wild Birds Unlimited. The kind we bought carries a life time guarantee, is very easy to clean and is ant and wasp proof. We have never had any leaking problems either. The company's website is www.wbu.com. Ours was about $20. They require refilling quite often, but that keeps the juice fresh.

To keep ants away, spray the post with cooking spray. Any flavor, doesn't matter. It's too slick for them to climb up. We live part time in our 5th wheel. We were getting ants and someone told us about this and to spray our jacks. End of problem. Great and cheap too. I got ours at Dollar Tree. Who knew?? :D :D

If you're using the glass type that you fill and turn upside down, you have to fill it to the top and then push the cork in and make sure the fluid squirts out when you do this. It's like burping it. That is the only way to stop them from leaking. The directions never tell you to do this, but that's how they're made to work. I've never had a problem with the 5 that I use. I buy the blown glass ones that are so decorative. I love them! I soak the tubes and clean them out with a Q tip. Never had problems with ants or bees. Good luck in your search and trial![/quote]

Have never heard this before and was so disappointed when mine didn't hold the liquid. I am very anxious to try this.

Saw our first hummer of the season last Wednesday for 2-3 days and haven't seen him since..?? Food is fresh, feeder is clean..??? Hope he isn't teasing me.

I am so jealous of all you ladies who already have hummingbirds at your feeders! I hung mine this morning, and if past years are any indication I will be lucky to have them by June. I am very careful to change the food every three days, wash the feeder and refill it, and it gets pretty frustrating when I seem to be doing it for nothing. I absolutely love hummingbirds, and do everything I can think of to attract them to my yard, but I don't seem to get them like I see people in other states doing. I know when I was babysitting my granddaughter in south Reno, I hung one for her to watch and had to fill it just about every other day. I live in east Sparks, which is about 14 miles north and east of where they live, and I don't know what the difference could be, unless it is because they are closer to the mountains than I am.

How full do you fill it? Mine did the same thing until my brain blew a gasket and figured it might be the expansion of the liquid when it gets warmed by the sun. Started not filling it so full and guess what?????it worked. No more leaking. Maybe that is your trouble, too. Hope it works for you. Marge L.

We have a feeder & it never seems to leak. We get to leave it out all year long.

Instead of giving them sugar water how about planting red hollyhocks or salvia or red flowered sage. No mess or ants.

I like the info on World of Hummingbirds.com And Wild Birds Unlimited is a fabulous Store. I think they probably have a website also. I was at the one here just today. We had a Baltimore Oriole feeding out of one of the Hummingbird feeders this morning. Cracked me up. The Owner of the Store said "Oh yes the Orioles love Hummer food". LOL
