I guess I was lucky. I felt great after my hysterectomy and bladder tuck. Once I got home I started walking, not far in the beginning, but everyday I tried a few steps further.
I hope you feel better soon.

Any surgery is a huge shock to your system. It takes time for your body to recover from the shock, also to detox from all the drugs you received during surgery. Your body also had to adjust to operating without one of your organs. Although I haven't had a hysterectomy, I've been under the knife a few times and the older I get the longer it takes to bounce back. Actually I don't bounce back anymore, now it's really more like a crawl.

You might want to talk to your doctor....loss of blood may have caused a slight anemia. I had my about 25 yrs ago and remember I was tired for about 6 months....but that was the old days - when they cut you from here to there....and made me go back to work in 3 weeks!!!

Hi Tonna
Sorry to here that you are feeling unwell.
I had my Hysterectomy 30 years ago and I can remember being full of life after a matter of three weeks.
I should think about going for a check up with you doctor maybe you need a pick me up.
Hope you feel better soon.

I had mine at 26. It was almost a year before I felt like myself again.

Hi Tonna,
I have only one thing to add- be sure to eat healthy foods.
I have no experience with what you had but eating right is like putting the right kind of gas in the car, as we all know!
Much love and hope you are better soon! And yes, keep in touch with the doc.

I had a total abdominal a few years ago. I felt like I'd been drug through a knothole backwards for several months, and then ultra-tired through about the sixth month. You really need to pace yourself. If I overdid it one day, I'd feel worse for the next two. Your body has had major trauma, and needs to be babied while it heals. I wish you the best, and yes, please talk with your doctor to set your mind at ease. Worrying if you're healing "normally" creates stress you don't need.

You've been through a major ordeal, and it will take time to recover. It seems to me that now-days insurance companies and sometimes even doctors, family members and friends dismiss "female problems" as just a little bump in the road. "You should be up and about in a few days," and after that, you're just pampering yourself. Rest and take a nap every day, if it's possible for you to do that. **DO NOT take any medication or over-the-counter supplement without your doctor's approval.
