I've made several pairs using this pattern, I added patch pockets and tapered the legs, the legs are a bit wide for my taste.

The easiest pattern ever is the one from Tightwad Gazette. Love those books! The instructions are about two paragraphs with a couple of pictures. I can have pair of pj made in about 1/2 hour or less. I'll see if I can find the pattern online and post a link.
