I know this is bad, BUT...
When I was younger and "scorched" something with the iron, if it was not too bad, my mother would re-wash it and it usually came out okay. But then again she was a heavy starch woman! I don't think I ever actually burnt through a shirt or whatever.
So, is there anyway that you can see if it is salvagable? Can you carefully wash the affected area and see if it will wash out?
Just wondering.

Who hasn't done that at some time, raise your hand. It brought back a memory of my first trip to NYC with my parents. Mom brought one "fancy" dress to wear for dinner, satin. She put the iron down on it to iron, lifted the iron and a part of the dress came with it, iron shaped hole left right in the front.

So sorry this happened to your quilt. Is it a whole cloth or blocks? If it is blocks, you may have to do another one. If it was a whole cloth, it is an opportunity to add a new design element. I know, not what you had planned but sometimes working around a problem makes to quilt even better. Good Luck!

My mother did that one Easter morning to a nylon dress she had made me. She ended up taking some of the gathers out and reseaming after she had cut the burnt place out. I will never, ever forget her tears.
