A gift certificate to her favorite shop, salon or restaurant. Our son gave us a year of Netflex and my husband loves it.

Very nice looking women, Your Daughter is beautiful. At your Mom-in-law's age tickets for 2 at a nice restaurant and movie, if she has someone that could take her. Usually have all the knick knacks you want then some.

If she is on a fixed income and living in her own home, helping with one bill each month for the next year would be a great gift--My MIL always appreciated flowers--bouquets as well as potted flowers.

could you ask your mother's friends if they have any idea what she would want or need. I know even a voucher so she can buy what she really wants could help. being a quilter myself having unlimited amount for some of that SPECIAL fabric that may cost more than I can afford would be great. even getting extra batting to put away for a special quilt is always a good thing to have. There are always things for the sewing machine or even up grade her old one with an
embroidery machine could help. Hope these suggestions help a little

I would do pretty stationary with stamps.....or some type of special food she buys?
------------------------------------------------------
Before my own mother left us, I stole her address book, and carefully addressed
letters to folks I knew she wrote to often, and stamped them. Also put in a lot of
lovely matching, lined note paper. (Before e-mail became popular.)
She really did like this, since she wrote a letter nearly every day.

Maybe a calendar with special pictures on it. there is a site, snapfish.com where you can download your photos and they can make lots of personalized items. they do calendars , cups jewelery etc. Its free to join and they have quite a few choices.

I would make her either a lap quilt, or a pillow with a family group picture in the middle (of the ones that will be at the party) & blocks around it for everyone to sign & express how special she is to them. I feel at her wonderful age, she would really treasure something like that.

Gift certificates to the local restaurants, including McDs or whereever she can get something just for herself. The others for finer restaurants can be for two people so she can take a friend. When my mother was single she loved that idea.

At Costco and online you can have an actual book made of family photos with captions. Great for grads and weddings too.

Surprise parties are great but can be stressful on the heart, please don't hide and then come out and scream surprise!! A friend's 95 year old grandmother had a heart attack from the surprise!! Thankfully she didn't die but they had to call 911.
