I even get calls on my cell phone, which I don't answer. They can still call if they are asking for donations. This doesn't apply to the DoNotCall list. If I want to give a donation, I will call you. My dad will say Huh! What! I can't hear on this phone, let me get the other phone. That's right, he just lays it down and hangs it up when he gets around to it. I hate it when they ask for my husband and won't talk to me. Like he knows how to write a check. But they always want money right now. I say no, you just send me something in the mail.

I was getting multiple calls/day from this company. Wrote down all the info. Filed the complaints at the do no call registry site (been listed there since it was first developed). These people were truly making me crazy. Finally called phone company to figure out how to make these calls stop. As it a robo-call, nothing to be done as to blocking numbers, etc. The phone company gave me complaint number for FCC. Called that little man. Very nice. Explained the situation. He said that company is already in their database and under investigation. Also said that since I was actually answering their calls, I was being 'targeted' and would continue to get more and more calls from them. And that is exactly what was happening. His advice (which I have heeded) was to not answer the calls and eventually they would stop. Took a couple of weeks of not answering, but they have stopped...at least for the time being.

I don't feel that I should have to disconnect my landline to make these people stop calling me! I want my landline!

I have a friend who used to listen patiently to all sales/donation calls and then say, "Gosh, I don't know what to do, you'll have to talk to my guardian". They hung up promptly. I just tell them we don't buy/donate to any one who calls on the phone at any time for any reason and they just as well save their breath!

If I don' know the number, I don't answer..also, if they don't leave a message, I'm ahead of the game...calls like that are such a kick in the head..I also have been known to pickup phone and hangup...

Definitely the way to go! If the caller can't leave a message, it can't be all that important, can it?

LOL
Guess it all comes down to whether you have the time. I let the answering machine get most, and if they don't leave a message, then they didn't want to talk to ME.

Luckily with my cell, everyone I know is on caller id. We don't have a residential phone. I have blocked some of the numbers but still recognize the numbers and let it go to v-mail. I got tired of having to check my messages on the resi phone and so we got rid of it. Saved us about $75.00 a month. my husband never leaves a message but I can see missed calls so I just call them back. DNC never worked for me. they always get around it. They just use another line.

I once asked a telemarketer for their name, phone number and address. When they said they could not give me that information I said it only seemed fair as they knew mine. then I hung up. I'm with all of you who use the answering machine, number ID on cell, etc. I just do not want to hear bout prostate cancer, hearing aids or pre-planned funerals while eating my supper.Keep on with the do not call preventives often.

I have registered on the DNC dozens of times through the years and still get them. When you tell them you are on the list and then ask what the Company name is they hang up and never call again. I did not know they could be fined but apparently they do. But as soon as I get rid of one 2 more take its place. It's an annoying cycle.

we were being inundated with calls even though we were on the list. I finally got busy and put complaints on all calls. Every time. They have almost stopped now. About time!!! got one yesterday I need to report too. some are charity calls but I don't care. harassment is harassment!!!! 12 calls a day is too many!!! report them. it does help.
