I agree with the Amazon gift certificate, or a Starbucks Certificate.

no nuts if he may be allergic. A nice plate of covered cookies (sans nuts) would be a nice gesture.

I get my Grandsons gift cards. This year a college GS wants Steak & Shake cards, so he won't have to cook so much. Another wants ITune card. I think maybe I will get another a gas card. All but one are old enough to work and they do. The cards just help them spread their money a little further.
Ask you Daughter what he might like.

New boyfriend, my granddaughter? MMMM his best gift would be to survive my "grilling" and not being met with a shotgun by the door...just so there'd be no misunderstandings of his intentions .

Give him a hand made scarf...just to test his integrity of handling something like that. Then, if you like the way he acted you could give him a "real" gift card along with a hug. If not, the turkey can just wear the scarf.

Oh, can you tell, we're a little protective here

This comment reminded me of Christmas with my dad. Every year my Grandma would buy him soap on a rope, and every year he would comment "I guess I still stink as a son-in -law". It always made us laugh. Thanks, I needed that smile this morning. It made me think of dad (who is gone now) and reminded me how much he liked the smell of Old Spice.
