We had a glider swing where two seats faced and there was a roof over your head. And next to the landing of the outside back stairs we had a cherry tree with red cherries with yellow tones. Swinging and picking and eating cherries with my cousin is a lovely memory I treasure. And riding in Dad's model t ford truck, red of course with a crank and the sides of the motor cover folded up left to right.

The milkman delivering real milk not the stuff today that is full of chemicals and estrogen.

We had weekly delivery of milk, bread, spring water, vegetables, eggs, coal and home selling of pjs woolen undies, aprons and such. A horse drawn box wagon delivered the bread and pastries and we loved that horse. A German couple had a bakery with items made there and the smell of the bake goods and stmosphere of seeing the goods in wood framed glass cases with the old cash register, wow! Our city was great til they wanted a mall and tore down the shops. Now we can't compete with the big malls and the quaint shops are gone. It would have been charming and drawn people to our city but the lame brains wouldn't listen and tore the city away. We had one store with a grand central double wide stairs and walk way around the four walls one level above the lower sales floor. Glamorous!

Forgive me for this....but I would love it if we went back to all immigrants desiring to learn English and wanting to become an American....I get really tired of not being understood by someone who lives here but chooses not to speak English....and the feeling that at 52 I have to learn a new language in order to communicate with most checkers at the grocery store.
