I'm a quitter

I had a friend give up smoking, she gained weight and went back to smoking. She never lost the weight and now she can't quit. I would rather be a little over weight then have the Dr tell you to carry a tank of oxygen with you everywhere. You are doing great. Keep it up and periodically give yourself a pat on the back!

Disgusting, smelly(stinking), expensive habit, but have to admit I sometimes miss the commeradity(sp?) of smoking with a fellow smoker. Have gained over 20 lbs and am so unhappy about that and consider going back to smoking but so far am hanging in there.

Thanks
It just downright hurts that I have to get rid of all my clothes and I do mean all......bras, pajamas, all shirts and tops, pants, etc. The money I save by not smoking is going to buying bigger stuff that I can wear!! But I will persist!! It is a whole new world.........

Happy endings for all the quitters. I quit April 1, 1993. And I have a story to tell about my quilting. Tried many times to quit, then one day I got MAD at the cigarettes. Smashed some with my hand and told my DH to take whatever was left to the garbage. He did just that, however, since he was a waste-not want-not guy (who very very seldom put a cigarette in his mouth) finished smoking all the throw aways so, of course, nothing went to waste. I got MS and passed in 2001. Miss him, yep still do.

SUCK AIR is what I learned from a hypnotist. He said avg smoker at a pack a day and 10 drags per cig does deep breathing 200 times a day. You feel like you need a cig and think it's the nicotine that gives that calming down feeling. Nicotine is a stimulant and it is actually the deep breathing you are missing!
In the 90's in CA I quit for 7 years. Cold turkey on the cigs but went outside (different door from the smokers!) for a "breathing break" for a couple of weeks.
caquiltingdeb said 7 times for it to stick? I hope this is my 7th!!! I quit on Aug 16th, 2010. So far, so good.
Congrats to all who have and best of luck to all who are planning to.

Congratulations! Give yourselves a pat on the back and a job well done high five! I never smoked, but mom always did. I was that kid who couldn't get anywhere without having to barf on the side of the road from carsickness. Once I didn't have to travel with smoke in the car, no more carsickness. Thank goodness. It was miserable.
