There is so much to learn and to consider!

Gale, thanks, I am also considering a Samsung Galazy 3.

And yobrosew, I will do just that, try both at my cellular carrier. My eyes are greatly troubled when DH is quickly flipping through streaming Netflix movie titles on our TV. Thanks for the tip.

keep this in mind when you read iphone vs android reviews. There are literally dozens and maybe hundreds of different android models. There are a lot of different operating systems being used out there as well. There's a lot more variety in android phones than iphones. Mine is running android jelly bean but there is a new android OS (kit kat) that might be even better. Unfortunately I can't use kit kat on my phone without rooting it and I don't really want to do that.

iPhone... Love it. It is used for/as music player, alarm, calendar, camera, Internet and email connection, card game player, pinterest, cell phone, answering machine, diet tracker, workout tracker, timer, texting, address book, recipe book (app where I added all my recipes and can access them at grocery store)etc. it also contains multiple apps that I use as a speech therapist. I even have an app that is helping me build endurance up to running a 5K.

i had an iPhone, switched after a while to android based on husbands recommendation and could not wait to go back to iPhone. My husband prefers the android but he is into technology. I like something that works simply.

I also reccommend mend buying an otter box case for it.

I have a smartphone because DH decided it was good idea to get one. He was right. I can check emails when away from home .

Both android and Apple are good products. Just remember if you decide to add a tablet....you want it to be the same platform so that you can syncs your apps to both devices. I have/love my Apple iphone and Ipad. My husband loves his Android Galaxy tablet and phone.

I love my iphone. I have kids who usually won't answer the phone, but almost always answer texts. And we message pictures back and forth a lot. And videos - a friend and I are both new grandmothers. I don't think people are avoiding us and our phones - yet. We share lots of videos and pictures. I also use weather apps often and play games with friends.

I was a dedicated Microsoft user (lived near Redmond, so...), until I got an iPhone. So easy to use...intuitive, not geeky. Love the camera feature, being able to access e-mail when I'm out, and the maps feature, plus search engines for anything you want.
