Just a Dog...thoughts to ponder....
#82
That is wonderful and I understand and know it isn't "just a dog." When my late doxie was a young dog she was attacked by a basset hound and ended up being blinded in one eye, that was almost $800. She was fixed, had a bout of breast cancer, pancreitis, seizures and other issues, her care up until the time she passed was in the thousands. She was a gift to me from a former customer at a small store I worked at so she cost me nothing. My husband used to joke she was the most expensive free thing we had ever been given. Well I would do it again, she was my heart and even though she has been gone for about 3 years now, I would spend that all over again. She was precious to me and only my husband, children and grandchildren could stand abover her. So I understand that when people say it "it's just a dog" they can't understand.

And something very uncanny I can tell you now......whenst my military Son was "taken" serving...his dog was with me & on the exact day well before I was informed....& doggie was restless all day long, making whining noises as well, going into his room the whole time...... & really like as if trying to say something.
Never had this before & then the very next day....dog died in his sleep at the end of Son's bed.....haunts me to this very day.

No need to say sorry for my loss, but thank you anyways, & sorry for not getting back earlier than this, but your words just came through today (Monday 30th May)

Oh yes, Ditter....it is so true. Our dog is one of the family and we might have to pay a bit for vet costs or special foods for them, but the dog gives back so much in return. Only a pet owner can really understand that the beloved pet is almost like your own child.
