That must have been an amazing sight! Every now and then I have migrating butterflies here. I started to go outside one day and they were everywhere! I couldn't have stuck my hand out without hitting them. I called my mother and told her about it. She and her neighbor drove 5 miles to my house so that they could watch them. I love things like that. I'm not sure I would have liked driving over the frogs though, that's pretty gross.

I agree with Ditter43, who said the frogs were looking for warmth. We live on a blacktop highway, and it becomes really warm when the sun is shining. When the temperature is cooler at night, such as in early spring or in the fall, there are frogs and other little creatures all over the highway before the blacktop material cools down.

When it rains hard here, we get itty bitty frogs to larger frogs jumping all over the road. However, they never cover the road like what you stated. That's just gross. Yuck! I would run the car through a car wash next day to get the remains off. Yuck!
