Kindle...Kindle...Do you Do Kindle??

I love love love my Kindle. I throw it in my purse and whenever there is a wait, I have something to read and it doesn't weigh a ton. You can get books whenever you want and they are much cheaper than paper books. Also I've run out of room to store books. Only room for so many bookcases.

I use our local library for my fiction that I read at night before going to sleep, but I own something like 1500 books, almost all non fiction, mostly craft books - are there any like that available for kindles? What about quilt books?

I just treated myself to the Sony Reader. I'm a big reader and love the feel of "real" books and hope they never go by the wayside - BUT, I felt for travelling this would be really good. My suitcase is generally weighed down with extra books so this will eliminate that. Will fit in my purse so very convenient to keep handy for waiting in doctor's offices, etc. And I love the fact that I can adjust the print size. (they all do that) Don't even have to put on the specs! Sony is the only one that allows you to borrow books from the library. I hated the idea of buying a book (even though they are reasonably priced) and then not being able to pass it on to friends as I usually do. I haven't actually even used the device yet so I can't review how user friendly it is, but my daughter is a technology teacher and she's researched them and told me this would be the best for me. We'll see!

I've thought about it, but just can't justify spending the money. My local library is two blocks away, and I can read as many real books as I want for FREE. I'm reading the Twilight series right now. When I'm quilting (or traveling), I like to play audio books, which are also free at the library.
Redquilter - please let us know how your Sony reader works for borrowing books from the library. I might be interested, if I can download books from the library.

I'm a library goer also. I used to have tons and tons of books, but when we downsized to this house...no room. I took all my books and donated them to the local library. I've been reading about Kindle. I'll have to check my library's web site to see what will work. I guess my librarian would know also. I like the idea of being able to get books from the library..or buying what I'd like if the library doesn't have it yet.
Thanks for posting this thread..I didn't know about the other ones..just had heard of the Kindle.
