Granniebj--I have diabetes with neuropathy and was without insurance for 18 months after I lost my job. Oh, I had COBRA but the payment was so expensive each month that I couldn't afford to pay the co-pay to go to the doctor, couldn't afford my insulin or other meds. I suffered in silence and when I did get other insurance, I had done so much damage to my body that it took months to recover. Please, if the pain comes back, please get checked. Make sure you are monitoring your blood sugars daily and be kind to yourself. YOU are more important than money. It's better to be broke or in debt than dead. Much love.

    Granniebj:--

Please be careful - the fact that you have had problems like blocked arteries, heart problems, etc, makes you more vulnerable to things like peripheral vascular disease.

Your local hospital may have a program to help uninsured patients, or even cancel their bills. Mine does, but you have to ask about it, so a lot of people don't know. They also have a lady who gets free medications from the drug companies for people.

    I second that.

If you were my DH, I would say "GET YOUR A** TO THE DOCTOR NOW!" And if you can't get an appointment for today, go to an ER or Urgent Care clinic.

It could be cellulitis, it could be blood clots, it could be phebitis. Please don't delay.
Totally agree you NEED to get to the doctor!!!!!!!!!!

BJ, are you a Type 1 or 2 diabetic? If Type 2, how long have you had it?

I was first diagnosed as type one about 10 yrs ago. Then switched docs about 5 years ago and went on insulin. I take 4 shots a day. Oh yea the pain is back. I do plan on going to the hospital but can't be today. My daughter has no one to watch her kids and she can't take off work, so another pain pill. After today I will go in...can't stand this!

Let us know what the dr. says, and I (and I'm sure others) will be praying for you.

It's not very common for someone to be diagnosed with Type 1 at 48 or so (you said you were 58) but it's not unheard of. I'm sending you a PM. :)
