I'm in, too. I think March's FQ is something in pastels and I am getting mine out early this month.

A new low calorie recipe? That will take some thinking. I don't use artificial sweeteners or margarines so low cal isn't always in my mind. I'm good at lowering calories in baked goods by reducing the butter and sugar, but I wouldn't call the recipes low cal. I made the fried food taboo. I'll take my cyber gold star, please.

I managed to eat something with wheat at a potluck last night and have been ill today. I'm now functional but not very talkative. I need to go to bed at a decent time. I have to run some errands tomorrow - we have an ice storm coming tomorrow night and I need to get my car tags and some dog food. 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ice will bring down power lines. I hate that.

    Have a good evening.

I had a PM from a member who has asked me for what the themes will be for 3 months. I will be happy to share that and have no problem getting FQ's early. IF you send multiply months, it will still be your responsiblity to sign up in the new thread each month.

    march - pastels
    April - brights
May - anything that reminds you of summer

I'm in for March. My goal for March will be to increase my exercise sessions and do more moving around. Tonite I'm getting ready for our first real winter storm this winter. Wind's been increasing off Lake Superior so I think this will be a good storm.

I'm in for the weight loss! Total for February was 3 pounds and I am very happy!

My exercise is going so well, but, boy, do I have knees!! They pop and crackle and ache. I just started taking Gluc/Chroindotin (sp?) and I hope that will decrease the pain. Each week I have been increasing the intensity, I am now up to 1/2 mile x2 at 2.2 mph and 8 min on the arm thingy at 2.0. It is so intense for me I am wringing wet when I finish. I still do weight work too, just 2 exercises of 15 reps at 2 pounds.

My blood sugar has been normal all month and my blood pressure is way down. Such good results.

My breathing? I really don't know. Yesterday I worked too hard and had to stop for a rest, I got light-headed during the workout. I see the lung doc April 3 so I will know results then.

I finally found my setting pattern for my gfg blocks, so I hope to start joining the "flowers" soon.

Lo-cal recipe, that will be a challenge. I grill tilapia on my George Forman, no fat at all, just lemon pepper. Not a new recipe to anyone but definitely delicious and low calorie, 90 cals per serving.

Does anyone know the glycemic index for split pea soup?
I make it with chicken broth, ham powdered flavoring, split peas, and bay leaf. I stir in 1 T of light sour cream before serving. 140 cals per serving. Last night I had 2 bowls, this morning my blood sugar was 209, not the usual number. Is the split pea soup the culprit? I didn't eat any snacks or sweets...

MJ, with 28 grams of carbs in a 1 cup serving, the soup could be suspect. Eat the soup, but add more protein to the meal. The GI index I found was 60. More protein will help the light headedness during exercise, too. Which reminds me, I need to boil some eggs. Good thing I have some because we are snowed and iced in. So far no high winds so things are okay. Your increase in exercise in just a few weeks is amazing. We're very proud of you. I think your lung doctor will be pleasantly surprised.

Low cal recipe for the day - low fat cottage cheese on toast topped with cinnamon sugar (heavy on cinnamon for blood sugar control) and broiled for a few minutes. Quick protein for breakfast.

When we try to regain control of our weight alone, we are not successful. We are in this together and our success depends on the help we can give each other. For the last two months, we have all posted less as the month went on. We get out of an endeavor what we put into it. For this month, I'd like all of us to post more.

Cindy, it's a good idea to know ahead. I may send April with March. Pastels and brights are nice choices.

Jeanne, how did coffee hour go this week? I did okay - a couple of bites of cheese and a lot of conversation.

Pam, Cindy, meanmom, jean, jeanne, MJ, welcome back.

I can sew on my red quilt today. My tutoree isn't coming because of the storm. He got all A s on his report card, so I guess he can have a day off. Do I remember how to do a decent applique? I'll find out. First I have to draw more flowers and decide on colors. Oh, and I have to go to the garage and work on the sewing machine that had soaked overnight in kerosene. Yick.

February 29 - a strange day. I was in labor on this date in 1964 and hoping Susan wouldn't come early which she didn't. In fact, we got the labor stopped and I carried that one 2 days less than 10 full months.

I am losing weight and getting healthier.

    Judy,
I think you are very correct. Although the soup has plenty of protein, I need 9 grams per snack or meal and this has 14 grams per serving. Today I'll have the soup for lunch and tonight I'll have grilled fish and green beans.

Thanks for the compliments on my PT work. I was so afraid when I started that I would literally die, it has been such a relief to be right next to the CCU while I work out. The cardiologists come by often to encourage us.

We are really having tornado weather. It is about 70 degrees today so I have the a/c on.

I am also working on a BOM. I have yet to make this month's block and I have filler blocks to make, also. I think I need to "hop to it."

Jeanne, are things going better now?
Gayle, you are doing awesome with your swimming exercises. Is the chlorine a problem for you?

I have found the most awful food ever - frozen chopped turnip greens! Oh my! I cooked them last night and threw them out they tasted so terrible. If someone only ate these they would never crave the turnip greens I desire. That was a lesson learned!

Mj Glad to hear the exercise is going so well. I NEED to win in April.I so LOVE brights. Everyone sounds like they are doing so well. Mj I have been using a smoked turkey leg, skin removed, in my soups for protein. Tastes like ham.
I only have one sewing machine and it is in the shop this week. It is just getting a tune up but I miss it. I am working on the 50 paper pieced stars group and am caught up. This week while I don't have a machine I have been cutting them out ahead. I have several baby quilts I need to squeeze in somewhere. I really should be making some ahead. I have a lot of nieces and nephews all about the same age. I have 30 nieces and nephews and have been making them all a quilt for their first baby. I also have 4 kids to make quilts for.
My eating hasn't been too good this week. We have cookies that I can't seem to stay out of. My DH finished them today. YEAH!!!!! I am looking forward to some good low fat recipe ideas on here. I get bored with meals.

Good morning, y'all. Yeah, I know it not morning, but it is to me. I made myself sick cleaning a machine with kerosene - it set off many of my autoimmune problems, so I took a 2 hour nap and then was up until 4:00. I still have more cleaning to do, but will wait until after I go to dinner with my family for my b'day.

Cindy, my weight loss isn't worth jamming your mailbox, but if you are keeping a running total, you can add 1.5 pounds. Not the 2.5 I wanted, but always better than gaining. The last 10 go slowly for me at this age. Before my thyroid died, I could lose 5 pounds in a day, but no more. I can't increase my thyroid meds with Lupus so what is, is.

My wonderful neighbors blew my driveway last night and again this morning. I can't do the wet, heavy stuff so I appreciate it so much. I know they don't expect anything, but I'm thinking a little gas money and an apple cake are in order.

Still dragging my feet on the applique. My daughter will love anything I do, so I need to just get it done.

I have a picture of my 13 year old GD's quilt. Her very first stitches on anything. One corner inside a block doesn't meet perfectly and the binding could have been more even, but I think she did an amazing job. There was a lot of drama involved - 13 year old female with ADHD, but we both survived it. Now I want to do a b/w quilt. Hah - get in line.

Have a clean eating day with just the right amount of water and the right amount of exercise. I am losing weight and getting healthier.

Love the quilt Irishrose. Now I've got to get some B&W prints into my stash so I can make one like hers. Delightful! I'm starting today @ 249#. Wanted to get to fit. ctr. but too icy. We're digging out from 8-12" here and bracing for more snow this weekend. Sure does feel good to see white outside and hopefully I'll be able to get to fit. ctr. Fri. am. for my workout.
Craftsy is doing block of the month demos and this month they have foundation pieced string blocks. Has anyone tried this technique? I like the look of them so I think I'll have to give it a shot but would love any tips to help me. Thanks.

All of her B/Ws came from WalMart. The brights are Moda Marble Swirls from grandma's stash. She had to buy the gold for the binding - I didn't have enough. Every life needs some sunshine, especially hers.

I'll check out the Craftsy block later. It's the quilt I want to do in B/Ws.

my starting weight this month is 186lbs. I went and worked out today. That makes me down 10lbs for February. There are a few with higher weight loss for February. I am going to wait until the 4th before announcing a winner since we have had the torandos go through, to give anyone in those areas a chance to respond.

Prayers going out to the victims of this devastation.

Happy Birthday, Judy! I hope you have a fantastic day!

Today I weighed in at the doctor's office and next month I see him on the 3rd so I will weigh in then. I'm in for the support but not the skinny quarter challenge. My weight today was 277, and I wish so much to be back in the 60's again!

My INR was 4.1 so I was sent home to bed rest and no exercise until Monday. My blood sugar crashed again last night so I am balancing that act, too. Ugh! The medical challenges are a pain!

Because my blood is so thin I get to eat a can of spinach this weekend, not my favorite, but I am going to attempt the florentine sauce they make at Ruby Tuesday's for the top of my fish for tonight and tomorrow night.

Judy, I love the quilt. Inspires me.

Meanmom, the smoked turkey leg sounds delicious; I'll have to look for one when I'm shopping tomorrow.

Cindy, that is an awesome weight loss.

I hope I make 5 lbs this month. Anybody want to challenge?

    Welcome back Lawson, blonde, jlw...

I'm back in for this month too. I am so disgusted with myself. I lost exactly 1 lb in Feb. I should be doing so much better & I only have myself to blame.....ok, pity party over..... I signed up for MyFitnessPal & now can track everything I eat on my phone. I know I need to keep track of what I eat in order to lose- Duh, no wonder my loss is so dismal!! Estimating has never done it for me!

Happy Birthday Irishrose! Have a great time out to dinner! Your GD's quilt sure is cute. She did a nice job. I am making a similar square in a square quilt for my Daughter's best friend's 21st Bday. I finished quilting it yesterday & just have the binding to do.

Great weight loss Cindy! I am about at the same weight as you.

MJ, it must be so difficult to lose with so many medical obstacles. You have been doing well- especially with all of that exercise & I admire your attitude! I love fresh spinach- can you eat that instead of canned?

Meanmom, that smoked turkey leg does sound good instead of ham. I'll have to try that. I love split pea soup.

I am off to make dinner. I'll have to think of a good low cal recipe to post. With all of my dieting endeavors over the years I should have some kind of recipe around.

Welcome back everyone & welcome aboard to anyone just joining for the month!
