June 2012 Weight Loss adventure with a prize!!!!

On June 1st weigh yourself and write it down. Do NOT send it to me. On June 30th weigh yourself again and PM me with your loss. This is weight lost not % lost. I will announce the winner June 2nd.

PM me for address. FQs need to be received no later than the 10th of month.

You cannot win 2 months in a row.

    Chit chat is allowed, as well as WAYWO, (what are we working on). Please stay positive and uplifting as that is what keeps us on track. Come to this thread for tips, recipes, encouragement and {{{{HUGS}}}}}}

The prize is a themed FQ. At the end of the month, I will mail all the FQs received to the winner by the 5th of the month. I will contact the winner and announce the winner with the number of FQs they will receive.
June is the beginning of summer. This month's theme is any combination of red, white and blue. Please send quality what you would want to receive. As always if you cannot send the theme fabric please send what you have. If you don't have a FQ, send a linear 1/4 yard. If you have signed up to be in the competition, please send the FQ to hostess by the 10th of the month. The winner has worked hard for this reward.

Eat healthy, exercise, try and lose weight but most of all have fun!!!!!!!!!!!

Sign up deadline to be included in the Prize Adventure is the 3rd of each month at 9 p.m. CST, with your FQ postmarked by the 10th of month. You can always contribute to the thread, but it is only fair to have a cutoff for those trying to win.

TO PARTICIPATE, JUST SIGN IN HERE ON THIS THREAD BEFORE MARCH 3RD. THERE IS NO NEED TO PM FOR PARTICIPATION, JUST YOUR ENDING WEIGHT LOSS FOR THE MONTH.

You must sign into the thread at least weekly to be eligible for the winning "skinny quarters" or to be declared "best loser for the month."

    Cindy, I'm in again.

Just read where loosing weight is easier when we do it with others. Sometimes that is true, because when we are down, others can pick us up or the other way around.

So ladies, we are in this together - be good to you. I have a refrig magnet that says "Nothing tastes as good, as looking thin feels". Know I need to remember this is a life change not a month or quarter or year - but a lifetime. I so wanted a treat today - I really wanted a candy bar or donut or something like that, but knew that if I had one, I couldn't stop. So I settled for a dinner roll. I get to have it for breakfast tomorrow. Now I'm really trying to make healthy choices. Got lots of veggies and fruit to go with the roll, so I patted myself on the back and walked out of the store feeling better.

I'm in. I sat out last month because I felt that I was wasting your time reading my posts if I was not losing weight. Then I missed all of you and ended up posting anyway. I will send the winner a FQ when Cindy announces the name.

Judy, that's 1 1/2 pounds you don't have to carry around - think 6 sticks of butter. Any loss is to be celebrated.

As I thought I flatlined last month so time to take a deep breath and get in the groove again. I have lost inches though because my clothes fit better so I'll take that for now. Am I the onlyy one who reads in disbelief that someone has lost 20 pounds and many dress sizes. Not I. Although I've lost well the past 2 months I am still wearing the smae clothes-they are just looser. I know it's posted somewhere but couldn't find it- what is this month's FQ theme?

nancia, when you get the bargello pattern we can work on it together. I love bargello's. Irish said she has done Spicy Swirl a number of times - I so want to try it also. I'll just have to order the pattern and go for it.

Day had been going good and then Mom pushed buttons. I have to remember "IT'S THE DISEASE". BE PATIENT. I'm so ready to go to CA for a get away. DD is coming home tonight, but leaving tomorrow night. Bad planning on her part, which is usual. But one day is better than none.

Maybe I can get outside and dig in the dirt for awhile and use up some of this anger. I won't eat through it this time!!! But it must be 5:00 somewhere.

nancia, red white and/or blue or whatever you have.

brenda21, welcome, you send your one FQ to createfourpaws (Cindy). You can PM her for the address. She will send them on after June's winner is determined. Other than that, you do the best you can dropping unwanted pounds and post here at least once a week, though daily is preferred by many. No numbers unless you want to, just let us know how you are feeling and how you are doing, what you are working on in quilting if desired, any tips you can share with us for meeting a goal, etc.

Welcome back to the rest of you. Did you see what I just wrote??? "the best you can do dropping pounds" What an eyeopener for me. I have not been giving this endeavor my best and like anything, you get out of something what you put in, what I've had is zero weight loss. It's 8:03 Friday, June 1, 2012. For the next thirty days I will give dropping pounds my best shot. Let's see what I weigh on July 1, 2012. Not 150.5, I hope, no, I know it won't be because I can do better than I have been doing. I AM committed this time.

If you want to meet a goal, you have to have a plan. Failure to plan means planning to fail.

Go write on your calendar your projected loss for June. I will write a three, which is a lot for me.

Cold and very rainy here so what did #1 daughter and I do? Traipsed around an iris farm carrying umbrellas. She bought some beauties. I bought lilies - one is a lily tree - grows to 8 feet with blooms up the tree like stem. Where am I going to put it? I assumed the lily garden until the guy told us that. Now I'm confused.

We had dinner at Applebee's. The food is always good there, but I think I had my week's worth of fat.

Di, another Spicy Swirl is next. I have a bargello book, but with such a big family and being a new quilter, a quilt for me isn't at the top of the list. The red quilting FMQ is almost down. It's taken too much time due to lawn and garden work, graduations, open houses, etc. The FMQ itself has gone okay. Someday I may be able to say well.

I AM dropping pounds and getting healthier.

Irish a lily tree sounds so neat.Do you know what it is called? We have a friend who collects lily plants. He is turning 40 this year and that would be a perfect gift for him. His wife is having a surprise party.
I am sitting here with my stomach growling. I don't know how it could be empty as i ate so much yesterday it should still be full. I guess I had better go feed it before I start eating junk.

the trouble with eating is-- 4 hrs later you are ready to do it again! it's like house cleaning, it never stays done! at least once you've made a quilt it is done and stays that way! i am doing soooo much better today! i have cut out a dress for little miss olivia. the most miserable fabric i have ever used!! it wouldn't straighten to save it's soul! good thing o will just be getting this one dirty! i will make a couple better ones she can pass on to her children one day. people still do that, right? anyway, i love my new table! thanks to a friend who had a pub height table in her sewing room, and the inspiration! my back says thank you! also, i have finished a reversible jacket with 'quilting' on the collar, front lapels, and cuffed sleeves. i promised it to her for thanksgiving--good thing i didn't specify which year!! lol, but true! i may post a picture, you know how that goes! i made a jacket for the mom as part of a swap and her daughter liked it and wanted one, too. how could i resist such flattery! anyway, i am so glad it is done and will be on it's way to it's new home soon!! yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! time for breakfast, an apple ans some oatmeal. YUM! have a good and healthy day!

I'm signing in - hope I too, can be committed about losing weight. For me, even 1 or 2 pounds would be good. I seem to hold onto this extra weight without any fluxuations. My doctor has told me she doesn't like the figures (needless to say, I don't). SOOOOOOOOO - I'm in. My latest 'snack' is trail mix - I'm hooked on it - need to find someone to pass the mixture on to and get it out of my kitchen. Need this so very badly. Will get a PM off to get address to send FQ (and maybe it'll come back to me!)
As far as quilting goes, I just finished a celtic knot small (20") wall hanger. I'm in the process of quilting - will get picture posted when done. Then, this morning I pulled out a project from my long grouping and will start that in the next few days. It's an Asian scrappy - before I go too far, will have to decide if I really like that concept. May not get to see some of the pretty fabrics if it's too busy. Will keep all posted.

Vanogay~would love to see the Celtic Knot! Was doing trail mix last month but got tired of it....

I have been on an official diet/life style change for 2 months now...at first I wasn't really losing anything and it was frustrating on the scale but I hadn't been able to put my wedding band on in months and I got that on a few weeks ago, so I know that something is happening LOL...it's coming off a lot slower than it did when I was younger but it didn't go on overnight so I know it won't come off overnight. I put most of the weight on after I quit smoking six years ago and the doctor keeps insisting that even though I'm overweight, he prefers that to smoking....

May's winner is Everose. Congrats on your loss and keep up the good work.

I have lost a total of 58 lbs since October last year. Now I am needing to do more toning up than anything else. I am starting to see my figure again. Haven't since that since before the kids came along too many years ago.

    Good luck everyone.

Well as the returning members know I haven't been on the board much due to work. Well unfornately that won't be a problem any more as I lost my job on friday. So I am among the ranks of unemployed. I will be looking for work outside of being in a hospital. I don't know that I want to work those long hours again. Will see what comes up and maybe even consider a career change.

I finally finished my purple gumball quilt and as soon as I get a picture of it I will post a picture. It came out great. The pattern calls for 30 squares, mind has 48 square. This will be on my Eastern Star Alter when I am installed as the head of the chapter.

Have a great remainder of your weekend.

Cindy, those were good news/bad news posts. It wonderful that you have lost 58 pounds, but not wonderful you have lost your job. Let's hope it's a window to a new opportunity for you. I'm anxious to see your quilt. The pattern is much prettier than the name.

Everose, congratulations. It's hard to be the winner when you don't have that many pounds to lose. Well done!

Weight control starts at the grocery store. If you don't purchase things that sabotage your loss, then they won't be in the house to snack on.

I AM gaining control of my eating habits and getting healthier.

WOW!! I won - I'm a big looser! Thank you ladies for all your support. Many times I wanted to say "WHO CARES", but I know that I do. The hard part is that even with me loosing almost 30 lbs, my family hasn't responded to it. Not a "you look good" or anything. Only a couple friends have said something. I know I don't have a lot of weight left to loose, but I got down to the single diget clothes again and now I want to get into the dress I wore for our wedding. I have until the end of Sept to firm up and surprise my DH. So now you all know my goal.

    Forgot, dah....

nancia - I have done two bargellos, but I think they are so pretty. I did the waving flag and aChristmas wall hanging. But the spicy swirl is one of my next ones. So whenever you are ready, let me know. Irish, said it was fun after the first one. I think they would make great gifts.
