That could easily happen. But here is my mismatched story.

I was getting bucked off my horse continually. Finally one day I got a letter in the mail that I had WON a pair of Tony Lama cowboy boots and what size should they send me. It was a local feed store promotion. So the boots came and I could not find a pair of matching socks. I had the world's best sock eating washing machine. So I wore brand new Tony Lama boots and mismatched socks.

I did NOT get bucked off.

From that day forward I would not get on any horse without a pair of Tony Lama boots and a clean pair of mismatched socks. Even if I had a pair of matched ones, I would choose mismatched ones. Cowboys and cowgirls are very superstitious. I rode for the next 16 years and never was unloaded.

I wore out the free pair of Tony Lamas and found a pair of Dolly Parton Coat of Many Colors Tony Lamas which I still have. My feet no longer fit in them but I'm not without them.

Yes, it has happened to both DH and myself. We have such a sense of humor that we laugh at ourselves first and no one else laughed at us but with us.

Yes. Married to a "DC Lawyer". One day he wore the trousers to one suit and the jacket to another. Fortunately, it was not a court day. We laughed as he was once a "forgetable professor" (for real).

Not with shoes but I've done it on more than one occasion with socks.

I can't count the number of times I have left my house with my slippers on. I've worn them to our golf course on more than one occasion & caught myself as I'm getting in my car with them on !! Lol

Yes, two entirely different shoes. At least they were the same color. The heels weren't the same height. I have also went to work with a blouse on inside out. I was too lazy to unbutton it as it fit nicely over my head.

I've never done that, but a co-worker came to work with mismatched shoes. Sad part was one was flat and the other was a wedge. She said that was the last time she was going to get dressed in the dark so not to wake her husband. She had to work like that all day (we are nurses).

A teacher I worked with many years ago once wore a navy blue flat and a navy blue heel. She reminded me of Chester on Gunsmoke walking down the halls. Kids sure noticed, but she didn't change shoes, just kept them on all day.0)
