Missing Quilts-Happy Ending

Next time use UPS - they track EVERY step of the way - each time it arrives/departs a way station.
I live in VT - many years ago my MIL sent a card that arrived very late. She had the correct zip code, but writing in cursive handwriting (anyone remember that?) her VT looked like UT. So it went to Utah, even though the zip was right. Don't tell me they always go by zip code...

Yes, I have not had really good results with sending via USPS either. I had a sewing machine sent Parcel Post, and it took 9 days to get to me!!! And the tracking wasn't helpful, either. It said nothing new for 8 days. Not good!!

The post office uses scanners that read the barcodes printed at the bottom of the envelope to direct your mail, just like your luggage at the airport. You can print your own envelopes and labels in Word and create your own barcode, that way you can ensure it is entered correctly.

I tried for a wk on the USPS "track & confirm" & got the same message every time...."no info available" .
Of course I was sick about it, so much work & a lot of $$$.
This morn, we went to local PO again & she got on ph,trying her best to track it down. They finally found it had arrived in wrong state......was then shipped to right state. At 3pm, the LA quilter called to say it had just got there.Big sigh of relief!!!!!
Even the PO couldn't say why it had arrived 3 states away from intended location.....nor could they say how they changed the Zip code to right one? The'd said it had wrong ZC....& they hadn't contacted us or local PO to get right one? Sounds ditzy to me, but thank heaven my quilts are ok.No more USPS for my quilts! BTW....even after delivery, their track/confirm site said no info available.

I now have a legal action against the USPS for the monies paid and then some....

I one time mailed birthday card to dad that came back addressee unkown, now this was the address my parents had lived at for more than 20 years and suddenly post office didn't know him.
funny thing is now that he is no longer with us my brother still gets mail for him after 8 years.
