In mourning... :(

I have found recently that my stash is (now don't kill me for this) kind of a waste of time and money. I really only quilt one quilt at a time and buy only that amount of material called for in the pattern. That way I don't waste money on unneeded fabric and my quilt comes out exactly like the picture (which is why I picked it in the first place). I haven't quilted long enough to be able to put stash fabric together to make a quilt. And I am too OCD to enjoy making scrap quilts. So, put your stash in storage and buy a quilt kit and enjoy finishing one project at a time.

I totally understand. I live in a trailer too! I sew on the kitchen table. My stash is in "the spare room" that is a catch all for canned goods, emergency stuff, cleaning supplies etc. I live wilth my DB and people keep giving him old computers etc and they end up in the same room. On top of this I do charity quilts for my church and I have 3 bins of their fabric. Right now it looks like something from that hoarders show. If we had an overnight guest we would have to hang them from the ceiling! Do you have a empty field somewhere with no one around? I find that helpful for screaming! Then I plow ahead. If you don't have a field go for a drive and scream in your car, when no one is around of course!

I know this is hard right now, but keep your chin up. When you move into your new house it will be just like Christmas when you unpack your stash!
My hubby is a retired Marine, we moved a total of 17 times from apartment, to base housing to purchased home, to NEXT base. This was in 20 years!
I still have crap in the basement that I have not opened in many, many years. Anyone want to go look with me? I have not been able to find those gorgeous Chinese varnished paper umbrellas that I bought 26 years ago!

Oh girl, I am so sorry! Children are a wonderful blessing but they do put a cramp in your style at times. :) And gosh do they seem to accumulate "stuff" quicker than anyone else! I have three little ones so I know what you're talking about. I agree with the other posters that said to get a quilt kit, or put together the material for just one quilt, and let that keep you busy. I used to not believe it but it is really true that "this too shall pass". Keep your chin up!

clutter is depressing
an awesome book is called "Clutter's Last Stand" by Don Aslett
there is also a lot of clutter that seems to accumulate with a baby
I do sympathize with you - my DH is reading the riot act to me about my fabric, too.

Sorry you are in this tight situation. I just want to encourage you. Before you know it... 17 or 18 years will be gone in a flash! Children do not stop growing while we go through our own trials. Once you are out of your small trailer.. you will look back on these times as wonderful memories. A longgggggggggg time ago I lived in a 8' x 35' trailer and I have fond memories... Now, not then... of the trailer days.

Soooo sorry!!! Just think of it this way, when you get settled into your new beautiful home, it'll be like Christmas when you get to unpack everything. I know, I've been through this. When I had to pack up stuff, and I mean pack up stuff, to get my ready for showings, this was one of my items. When it got all unpacked, I felt like a kid in a candy store!!! Chin up!!!
