Can't remember the last time I went to the movies - at least 10 years ago. Just checked out the prices of the cinema in town - we don't have one out here.

Adults $15.50
Children $11.50
Pensioners $12.50
Seniors $11.50 *
Students $12.50

Seniors card holders have to be 60+ and not working. Why not the same price for Seniors and Pensioners?

Now I know why I don't go to the movies - I can't afford it!

Wonder how mums and dad's with a couple of kids get on? At those prices, plus the price of a drink or snack for the kids, it would work out to be a VERY expensive outing. And *NO* you are not allowed to take your own food and drink in, you MUST buy theirs!!

We had a bad experience the last time we went to the movies. I don't know how to say this without upsetting some people but there were creeping crawleys on my husband's arm. Don't care if I ever go to another movie.
As someone here said, Redbox is the way to go. In the theaters people are eating and leave crumbs and sweet candy wrappers all over the floor. Not for us .

We rarely go to the movies. Our friends have a "theater room" and invited us over. We watched some of the old Ma and Pa Kettle movies they had rented. We loved them!!!

i was 12 the last time we went to the movies and i'll be 120 the next time.
spending big bucks to sit still in the dark and holding it in for 2 hours is a waste of fabric money. i wait for cable (actually directv) or watch hulu or borrow from the library. otherwise i read and go to the bathroom when i need to.

I would pay to go to the movies if there was something good to watch. I love the big screen but until they start making something worth seeing I'm just going to watch a movie on TV. I'm good till November anyway b/c I watch all the Yankee games :D :D :D :D
And I love Turner Classic Movies - aaahhhh

In my town if you go before 6 on the weekend it's $1.50. Otherwise it's $3.00. Thats at the walk in. When the drive in opens it's $10.00 a carload.

Aren't/weren't drive ins the best!!!! We were able to get to take our kids once (maybe twice, kinda forgot already) to the lone drive in in the area with our old neighbors/friends. Sad to say it's gone now.

My parents used to take us, talk about the ultimate watching a movie in your pj's. We had a station wagon too.

Hadn't thought about all that in forever. Thanks for the trip!

I just happened to look at a site of a local theater, it's $8.00 for an adult matinee!!!!

$10.75 at night
$12.00 3D matinee
$14.75 3D night
$17.25 IMAX adult

I just wait the few months and rent it. Altho' it's been forever since I found anything worth seeing and it costs the same as "on demand" thru our cable. $4.99.

I also read that Blockbuster is reinstituting the late fee charges. The more convenient one to us closed months ago and the other one is just a pain to get to so we don't do that anymore. Hubby doesn't want the expense of Netflix as we won't watch that many to make it worth our while.
check out redbox.com. it is only $1. per movie, per day.

We have only one theater now that charges $1.00. In Ill. where I used to live we had a theater there that was also $1.00. I guess now it is $3.00. When we moved here to Ga. there were 2 theaters for $1.00. Shortly after they remodled one it closed down.
When we lived in Ill. we used to drive 1 hr. to Monroe, Wis.
to go to the drive-in. And also would drive 1 hr. to go to one in Ill. Now we have been in Ga. for 8-1/2 yrs. and live approx. 10 to 15 minutes and have not even been to the drive in.
