This is one of the reasons I'm working on getting the "outdoor" cats here fixed up with neutering and shots. There are currently 7 (plus a litter of kittens somewhere) that come to our house to eat. So far I have caught 3 of them and taken them to a local spay and neuter clinic to have them "fixed" and shots.. at least that way if they do bite I know they're safe, and the clinic is giving me a great break on the services. and just an FYI even with cats that have had all of their shots, there is a 70% infection rate with cat bites. last time I got bitten, it was a sick kitten I was trying to nurse back to health.. it bit me, then died next day. I had to take it to the health department to get it tested for rabies, but I lucked out and didn't have to have the shots.

You sound like me neighbor. She has had alot of our strays neutered. She and I put food out for them. One is special to both of us. Only problem is he has feline leukemia. They are moving to Texas soon and of course can't take the cat. She came over in tears asking if I will make sure to keep him fed and keep up on his shots. Brought over all his records and everything. I guess he is my new outdoor cat. At least since getting neutered he doesn't fight with other cats anymore.

Oh MY!! I sure hope you are doing okay now!! My grandma was a vet assistant and she had that happen to her once when she was bit by a mangy, injured stray cat someone rescued and brought into the vet to be looked at. Thankfully you got medical attention right away!!! I hope you have a speedy, painless recovery!!!
