My fingers hurt!

I have to use a metal thimble, I wear holes in plastic ones and have even worn a hole in a metal one. I guess a leather one would not last long either. And of course, once there is "A" hole, the needle finds it every time and sticks your finger!

This might sound strange but when I do a lot of hand work I use Nexcare Tattoo bandages. They stick well and cushion where the needle hits. You can only find them in "kid friendly" designs but they are soooo worth it. I bought 6 boxes afraid they'd stop making them and I'd be stuck . They last a good while too.

I use super glue on my underneath hand fingre tips, don't get to sore that way. I have been hand quilting on a throw size quilt everyday since the first of Feb.
I do have some thimbles, but just haven't got the hang of them & I am always miss placing them, so glue has to wear off. :-)

I use my fingernail to push the needle. Once I have my quilting stitches started with 2 or 3 stitches on the needle I can slip on my TJ Lane thimble and use that. I build up a callous on my underneath finger but sometimes that one gets sore because as the callous builds up I have to apply more pressure to actually feel the tip of the needle.
