I would suggest you try to find a friend who has a Kindle and handle/look at it...then go to Barnes & Noble...or even Best Buy...and look at the Nook and other e-readers that are available...then make you decision. I love being able to slip my Nook into my handbag and read while I am waiting at places.

I think either one would be okay. I have a Nook and love the fact that I don't have to buy books. Lots are free and I can download sooooo many books from the library! That is the main reason I love the Nook!

I bought my Kindle at Best Buy, along with the accessories. I purchased the extended warrenty as well. I figure I will eventually get an i-Pad, so I was worried that if I got the Nook color, I would have a harder time convincing my dh that I should invest in the i-Pad. :)

The books I had on my computer automatically transferred to my kindle. After I got mine, I saw there were cases that had a built in book light. My little case doesn't. At night while dh is watching tv, I use a clip-on book light. Mine will hold a charge for about 3 days, and I read a lot. I've never used or looked at a nook, but my friend loves hers.

I have been using this Kindle for just over 2 years now and would buy another IMMEDIATELY if it died. *antijinx* That is how much I love it.
And no more large quantities of DUSTY books making me sneeze :-)
