Monopoly has decided to take the THIMBLE piece out of the game😢 No news yet of it's replacement. ??Think we need to protest?? Lol !

I agree to a protest! Who would do that & the better question is WHY? I'm sure having the thimble piece in the game did not diminish any of their sales since 1935 (that's when the thimble was put into the game).

They had a contest a while back. I don't remember the link for it or I would post it. I have the Fallout 4 version of Monopoly and the original version is around someplace, most likely in the attic of forgotten things......lol

we could think of it this way they will become collectables in the future. I have some old games and may place the old pieces in my china cabinet

It's all a marketing ploy to get people talking about and playing monopoly. The media covers the story of this or that game piece being retired and I am sure their sales go up.

I proudly voted to keep the thimble! And only once...

I have a lot of the old game pieces collected from thrift and yard sale Monopoly games. I was going to use them in a craft project but forgot what it was. I know I have lots of the cannon, hat, thimble, iron, purse, rocking horse, and horse with cowboy. All retired now.

Guess it goes with the times. A lot of the younger generation probably don't know how to use a thimble or iron! I remember being at work and the conversation went to which iron works better. One woman said "Why would I own an iron when I have a perfectly good dryer?"

So when you play monopoly, just take out your thimble and use it for your playing piece. However, a seam ripper would intimidate your opponents more...
