I know, isn't that so sad?? DH & I have 3 dogs, one of which is a black lab mix who is getting on in years. When she passes on (hopefully not for several more years) we intend to specifically adopt another big black dog. I think it is so silly and sad that people don't like black-furred animals. Our girl is a sweetheart. A big, clumsy, goofy sweetheart.

Black dogs are often left unadpoted at the shelter or pound. We got a "used" black Lab mix from some people at our church who were traveling a lot and finding it difficult to take care of Missy. She had originally been dumped at the pound years ago, expecting a litter of pups. We've had her now for 6 years, and at 16 she's showing her age and slowing down. But her sweet nature remains the same. We'd definitely consider another black Lab in the future.
