It was time to do a couple of oven door towels for my DIL. I thought it would be easy peasy but I had 2 go to 2 different $ stores and even checked Wakmart. It is getting tougher to find nice towels and pot holders that match in my area. I finally settled for these and they were easy peasy to sew up.[ATTACH=CONFIG]598037[/ATTACH]

I have always loved these. Thinking this may be a reason to start on Christmas gifts. Do you use a pattern?

Tartan, those are so nice. I have a ratty one that I've had forever but I love it because my husband runs all over the house with dishtowels
I need to make some. The one I mentioned my Mom got me at a church bazaar.

Cindyb, no pattern. I mark the center of the pot holder and the center of the towel with my Frixion pen or chalk. I run a gather stitch along the line on the towel and gather it to fit the width of the pot holder. I use the zig zag multi stitch on my machine to sew the gathered line to the center of the pot holder. Once finished, I hunt through my button box for buttons that will go through the pot holder loop and hand sew them on.

Lynnie, I mark the middle of the towel and gather it to the size of the pot holder. You could use the towel full out but then you run the risk of the towel being on the floor when the oven is open. If you have pull handles on your kitchen drawers, you could hang a longer one there though.

For those that wanted to know how they are done. I buy the pot holders at the $ store for 2/$2 . I like the rectangle ones with the hanging loop in the center because I use the loop for the button. Here is a picture opened up so you can see the sewing.[ATTACH=CONFIG]598058[/ATTACH]

Those are really pretty. I like to make them too. They make nice gifts too, when you can find pretty ones.
