good for you!!! always beware. Sears called me on Sunday morning to see if i knew of a charge on my card. Well I didn't and he seemed to be legit but I told him I'd call Sears myself about that charge. He was understanding. Turned out he was legit but Sears was trying to add almost $2,000 on my card for service policies on appliances. Duh!! I'm cancelling them all anyway but hate having this done to me when I didn't OK it at all either.

I had them call here too. My husband contacted Microsoft via their website and they said it is a scam. The second time they called, I told them to take my number off their list and never call here again.

I love, love, love caller id. When I get a call from a number I don't know I answer it and set it by the radio. Then in a min. I hear "If you'd like to make a call..." LOL No need to interact with anyone I don't know!

Been screening calls for a long time now. Let the answering machine handle all the calls. If it is someone I recognize, I answer it, if not, let it go on. If they hang up, so be it. This takes care of people who are "fishing".

Got a call from a fraud detection company on my debit card. I told them I wouldn't talk to them without first contacting my bank. They were legit. Seems someone was trying to "use" my debit card in Target in Napier, IL for $1.89 sale. I live in NH and had the card in my hands during the phone call. Glad to know fraud detection can work. My question...how did the thieves get "my" card (used it at a cash register) and why not try to buy something more than a candy bar??? LOL Worse part of all this was having to wait for a new card and PIN to be FedEx'd to me which took 5 days.
My last words of advice: DO NOT give out any information without checking with the original source, in my case the issuing bank. They verified that the fraud company was their's and I should feel comfortable giving them the info they needed.
Thanks for the warning on Microsoft scam.

And the reason such a small amount - it is to "test" and see if it will go through OK, then if it does they can start buying Iphones, etc. Sounds like you have a great bank!!

LOVE the caller ID for sure !! I use it all the time at home and even at work ! Then I also found out that you have to let them hang up first after telling them no and no constantly. This eliminates (or is supposed to) your number from their data base.
Also go to donotcall.gov and put your number on it, including your cell number !
