Ok, I am confused. You say that AC will not pick up unless it is contained? I was an ACO for the Colorado Springs and this would have been what we call an HBC (hit by car) and it is our job to rescue this poor dog. I could not tell you how many times I had to chase down a stray on the loose dog.
If I were you I would call and complain and tell them this is why the name is The 'HUMANE" society and that is what they get paid for is to protect and help the animals who can not speak for them selves. (sorry, it just pissed me off they would not go unless contained)

I am an animal lover to the end. Just recently adopted a bunny cause his owner is Air National Guard and going to 'war'. She needed a good home for Oreo and so now Oreo is mine!! I sure hope the daughter got to get the dog. Animals love their owners and will go to many lengths to find them, even when they die. Bless you for being so kind!!

Boxer Mom - I know. It is irritating. But the good thing is that they did go out and help when the officer called them. And I do know that the daughter picked up the dog ('cause I called the humane society the next day to make sure) - but what I don't know is how she felt about it. I imagined myself asking "did she seem happy to get the dog back?....." but I figured they'd just think I was crazy. I'm just letting myself think that the pup is being well taken care of now.

I hope so too, the dog could be a good thing as far as reminding them of him or a bad thing due to how much it hurts to see the dog and reind them. I hope they see him as a good thing.
