It's funny to think about this--on my next birthday, I will have been with hubby half my life. Wow.

Time flies when one's hubby spoils her terribly--or is that beautifully? ;) I have to say the last five years were easier than some in the middle. I'm thinking the next 10 ought to be a piece of cake. There's nothing left to argue about. Is there?

My grandparents were married 62 years. My in-laws just had their 50th. My son just got engaged. And life moves on.

Quilt Mom 12-22-2009 04:35 PM

Congratulations on your anniversary!

Isn't it wonderful to make that milestone? You seem to have a long line of solid marriages in your family. Good job continuing the trend!

On the 29th, my DH and I will have made it 30 years. Yes, some years are hard, but every one of them is worth the effort!!!

Quilt Mom 12-22-2009 04:37 PM

By the way, my DD looked up your website, and loves your minis! She has a thoroughbred, an arab and a mini. Quite the herd!

adriansmom 12-22-2009 04:43 PM

10yrs here...I guess I'm still considered to be fairly new at this compared to the rest of you!! LOL

barbsbus 12-22-2009 04:45 PM

It will be our 52nd on the 27th.

samroberts01 12-22-2009 04:53 PM

Happy Anniversery! Today is also my anniversery of being married to my husband for just 3 years but we have been together for about 12.

QuiltingGrannie 12-22-2009 04:56 PM

In May my husband and I will be married for 5 years the second time! We were married in 1994, divorced in 2000, and remarried in 2005! We've actually known each other since 1978! - 31 years! True love wins out!

Jim's Gem 12-22-2009 05:08 PM

Congratulations on your Silver Wedding Anniversary!!! Not that many people make it there!!!
Lets see..... May 24th will be our 30th!! We dated 5 years before we married. (we were 19 and 21 when we married!)

barnbum 12-22-2009 05:12 PM

52 years---wow! Congrats!

Silver huh? Like the hairs I'm getting?

My daughter said she'd do chores so we'd would be like "normal" people and go away for at least a night, but there's no where we'd rather be than home. I haven't slept away from here since 2001--and that was only one night. BUT, we are going to go out to eat to the Belhurst Castle in Geneva, NY in a few days. Oh boy--this is a step up from our usual Denny's. I hope I'll know what the menu is talking about.

ginnie6 12-22-2009 05:14 PM

Rhonda 12-22-2009 05:53 PM

Happy Anniversary to Everyone! Some impressive numbers there! My husband has a memory disorder due to a brain injury years ago. He tells people he is still with me because he forgot how to leave! He also tells them I am his filing cabinet because he can't remember things.

Harmony 12-22-2009 06:08 PM

Happy 25th! What a coincidence--yesterday was my 35th! And like you, my hubby spoils me terribly, and I try to do the same for him. And yes, there are good years and not-so-good years, but overall I've never regretted marrying him! Hope he feels the same!

Joan 12-22-2009 06:08 PM

Chele 12-22-2009 06:40 PM

Congratulations Karla! Wishing you many more happy years. The fun has just begun!

Mousie 12-22-2009 06:47 PM

congratulations, Karla and hubby!
Yup, I'd say those years are not all the same, but anything worth having is worth working for and taking care of.
Sounds like you and hubby have a good handle on it.
Me and mine, 32 married, 34 together. We have a handle on it too,...but sometimes I am still tempted to use that handle on him!

KGoodhand 12-22-2009 06:50 PM

Wow! I hope I make it as far as some of you have!
My hunny and I have been married 12 years now. Our anniversary is August 16. We too dated for five years before we got married! Actually myself my brother and my sister each dated our significant other for around that 5year mark before we each got married!! Wierd! We just ahd to be different from my parents! They dated 6 months, got married and on Dec 13th celebrated 40 years together!!!

2 Doods 12-22-2009 06:53 PM

29 years next June.
DH and I dated for 4 Years during college.
My parents celebrated 58 years in Sept.
They only dated 4 Months!

Rhonda 12-22-2009 06:59 PM

We only dated for 3 months before we got married. Gave my mom one month to put the wedding together. we lived together most of that 3 mons. My dad wouldn't talk to me for awhile! My parents definately didn't approve. I was 19 and DH was 25

barnbum 12-22-2009 07:02 PM

We were engaged in Oct--and married in Dec--2 months later. We had to keep assuring people I wasn't pregnant.

He's still cute.

MNQuilter 12-22-2009 07:23 PM

It will be 7 years for us in March. It amazes me how fast time flies! We were friends for 5 years, dated for about 8 months and were engaged a year before the actual wedding. My mom always said tha tit didn't surprise her that I married DH because I was always talking about the time I spent with him, even when I was dating another guy! He was my best friend even then!

LindaM 12-22-2009 07:33 PM

We celebrated 28 years Aug 2009 ... we were high school sweethearts, married after university (9 years dating, 28 years married) ... he's my best friend.

His parents celebrated 50 years just before his dad passed on 2 years ago, my parents celebrated their 54th last month! My grandparents 60 years, great-grandparents were together 69 years. Lots of wonderful family moments all my life :)

mgshaw 12-22-2009 07:49 PM

Happy Anniversary Karla!!!!!!
Ours is next tuesday, the 29th. It will be just 6 years for us. Been together for 9.

earthwalker 12-22-2009 07:53 PM

It was our 13th Anniversary on the 21st December. We have both been married before and collectively have 5 sons. The eldest is 33 and the youngest 17. We are very close and are still as crazy about each other as when we first got together. I could not imagine my life without him.

canmitch1971 12-22-2009 07:55 PM

Congratulations to all. We will be married 39 years in July.

Esqmommy 12-22-2009 08:03 PM

We've been married for 11 years, but lived together for 3, and have known each other for 30 years (roughly). How's that for longevity. Still raising kids, we fight and get totally sick of each other...I'm sure "this too will pass" and we'll be like you and your DH Karla. At least I hope. Some days it feels so right, and there are others....grrrrr. Today has mostly been a grrrrr day, which is why I'm being such a grumpy writer!

oksewglad 12-22-2009 08:08 PM

Karla--congrats to you and your DH. Last month my DH and I celebrated 38 years--we were HS sweethearts. Some days are good and some are even better!

Tink's Mom 12-22-2009 08:27 PM

Doesn't it seem like yesterday, Karla? We have been married for 33 years, dated for 3 years before that....

JJs 12-22-2009 08:50 PM

Our 44th anniversary was the 17th (Dec).... I'm not finished with him yet!
I was 18 - he was 21 when we got married - and he had already been to Viet Nam - we met the month he got back - and we were engaged for a year before we got married...

I asked him once if we were still together because he loves me or because it's too much trouble to find someone else - he said, "Yes" - what a brat! LOL
We have 3 'kids' (oldest is 43 - youngest is 38), 7 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and two more greats due next year..

Janstar 12-22-2009 08:56 PM

Happy Anniversary Karla and DH! We have been married for 51 years but it does'nt seem that long. The time just races by. He is difinatly a keeper, such a sweet man!
