Sorry about your job. The same thing happened to my dad many years ago. After working for this company for 15 years they let him go and hired someone for half his wages. He was so angry. The company went out of business three years later. Maybe I'm bad, but I was glad to see it.

Chris (a.k.a Khan, a.k.a. HEY YOU :lol: ), this would be a perfect time to do lots of sewing. It's great therapy for me for when I'm worried, "gr"itchy (well, the word I was thinking of rhymes with that, anyway), or stressed. Post pic's so we can see what you're doing!

Chris ~ Sorry to hear this. As a "neighbor" of yours, I know how economically depleted the CNY area is becoming. So many companies closing ...... I was so sorry to see Syracuse China leave. It was a landmark! And now Magna closing its doors. So far, nursing has been recession-proof for me. I hope everything turns out for you; As trite as it may sound, everything WILL work out. My mom, who lived through the Great Depression, firmly believed that when one door closed another opened. I will keep you in thought & prayer, that the door yet to be opened will lead you to something even better. Nita

It seems to me you have an age discrimination suit here, because you've been there long enough to have received promotion pay. What do the rest of the board members think? Any lawyers or wives/husbands/relatives of lawyers reading this?

I'm a paralegal for a firm that does employment law. I can ask if this would be a cause worth pursuing, or at least worth consulting with an attorney about.

However, the boss would probably say they didn't go looking for younger people to hire, but for people who were of an entry level skill set.

Chris - I just remembered something that may give you a chuckle - the first thing I did when I took 'early' retirement was MAKE a quilt! And it looks like the first thing you're going to do is FINISH a quilt.

Seriously though, you sure sound like you have a good attitude. I hope that you find another job by the time you actually need one.

Shelley had some good advise for you. Attitude counts for a large percentage of what happens in our lifes.

You sound like you have a good outlook and since you weren't "in love" with the job anyway you now have the opportunity to go into a line of work you just might love. We have to work so many of the hours in our adult life it is alway good to love your work.

GK - Sorry to hear about your job loss. You have a good PMA and that's what is most important. Everything happens for a reason, even if we don't know what that reason is. You have all my best wishes. You'll be OK. You are a survivor. You go GUY.
