Maybe it's because one owns me but I seem to see more Boston Terrier dogs as avatars than any other breed here on the board. What kind of dog owns you?

bj 01-15-2011 09:41 AM

I have a boxer and my grandson's Schnoodle is here with us for a bit. :D

bodie358 01-15-2011 09:42 AM

Schnauzer poodle? Sounds adorable and I just know he/she is smart as a whip. Both breeds are extremely intelligent.

bakermom 01-15-2011 09:43 AM

Labrador retriever! and my DS's beagle!
My aunt and uncle always had Boston terriers. They were the smartest things! my uncle was disabled so he had time to work with them. the tricks those dogs could do!

Cyn 01-15-2011 09:46 AM

We lost our 2 bostons years ago but have a Jack Russell and a beagle now! I've got to start saving slow calm dogs :) Our beagle is the closet I have ever had to a normal energy dog- lol. Thank goodness all our dogs have always been very respectful of all our cats :)

bodie358 01-15-2011 09:46 AM

I have had dogs all my life but my boston Winston is the smartest of all. I taught him tricks starting when he was 3 months old. Within a month he could roll over, crawl, sit up and beg, shake, dance, spin in cirles and dribble a tennis ball with his feet. I dont think there is any limit to the number of things this dog can learn.

happymrs 01-15-2011 09:55 AM

Beagle, rescued off the side of the river here. She was around 1.5 then, & is 12 now
Jack/Chi...Jack Russell/Chihuahua/DH's pup
Co/Jack...Corgi/Jack Russell, my baby...

We had a very much loved Jack/Shit...Jack Russell/Shitzu, age 6.5. but lost him last May while on vacation. Liver & spleen swelled, they took the spleen out, but still couldn't save him, unfortunately. Got home vacation & decided we needed another pup, then we both found one we liked, at different rescue shelters, hence, two new pups, & what characters they are!
Grew up with a Boston Bull, what a character she was, great dogs!

No dogs now, all our beautiful friends have gone on to the Rainbow Bridge to wait for us. Two rescue cats now, but if another
dog it would be another Doberman for a friend, companion and guard. Driving alone with a big Doberman in the car is a satisfying thing to do.

Used to have a Boston when we lived in Albuquerque, Pepper was her name which really described her temperament. Hot tempered and always bounced when she walked, could jump as high or higher than any cat. She would walk around at bed time dragging her blanket whining and wanting someone to come cover her up...on my bed.

We have three boxers and last year rescued a young Boston girl. What a hoot she is! Full of mischief and lots of fun, and yes VERY smart! We're totally enjoying her.

bodie358 01-15-2011 10:22 AM

Very cute! I have a Wire Fox Terrier too. The trainer in his obediance class had a boxer named Yoda. Wonderful dog, he would sit in the middle of the circle during classes and never move a muscle. I hear that they are great with kids.

emt2004 01-15-2011 10:28 AM

2 Yorkies here. Mother raised Boston Terries when I was young. I will find the pictures of the puppies and post they were so sweet...........Michele

bodie358 01-15-2011 10:42 AM

Oh, I would love to see them.

Sadiemae 01-15-2011 10:48 AM

Molly, my miniature poodle owns me. She scared me yesterday because I couldn't find her. I knew she was in the house because she can climb the fence outside (so I never let her out alone). After I looked everywhere, so I thought...She had curled up inside a fleece blankee and the only things showing was a tiny spot of black on her rump.

Justquilting 01-15-2011 10:51 AM

2 Boston's here!
I think they have sooo much personality!
I've never had dogs that just want to be close & have to touch you all the time.
I've had dogs all my llife but these guys just warm your heart.

lyndad 01-15-2011 10:53 AM

I have owned 2 Boston terriers, they were wonderful. I now have a Sheltie and a miniature schnauzer, totally opposite personalities, the sheltie is meek & mild and the schnauzer is a holy terror, but both are lots of fun.

hazeljane 01-15-2011 11:22 AM

11 Italian Greyhounds and one very bossy 7 lb dapple dachshund. (okay, 7 of these dogs are fosters, but still live here.)

Oh my gosh! That picture is adorable. I am going to print it out and frame it.

Izaquilter 01-15-2011 11:54 AM

you're yorkies are just adorable. they have captured my heart. I am on my 2nd yorkie & would get another but DH doesn't want 2 dogs in the house. so I said "how about 3" LOL he didn't laugh! I would have a whole house of yorkies if I could. They are just precious

emt2004 01-15-2011 12:13 PM

I just love my Yorkies. I had a tea cup and she passed a couple of years ago. we went to a Yorkie rescue and adopted these two, male and female, they love one another so much, never met before the day we adopted , we have been very lucky.........Michele

I have two beautiful babies. Aretha- black lab and Alicia french bulldog/boston terrier mix( that looks more like a boston terrier).

lalaland 01-15-2011 12:19 PM

We have Floppy, who is a chihuahua cocker-spaniel mix, and her partner was Jack, a standard rat terrier. He passed a few years ago and we still miss him something awful.

kbs 01-15-2011 12:22 PM

I have a pit bull, he is almost 8 years old and a wonderful dog. Nothing like the ones you see on the news. What those dogs must have gone through to be in the position they are in. Our 'Harley' is loving and gentle. He really doesn't qualify and a guard dog, watch dog or hunting dog, guess he is 100% companion/lap dog.

quilter on the eastern edge 01-15-2011 12:24 PM

That's my Golden, Henry, over there.
<<<<<<<<<<

We were out playing in the snow --he was waiting for me to "boogity" him so he could run around the yard like a crazy dog.

We have a Chocolate Lab, Ms Pella and a small mix breed, Abby. (Abby has some westhighland terrier in her, and she is very spunky, her other side is a lap dog)
I had a friend that had a boston terrier, very nice dogs.

LovingIzabella 01-16-2011 05:15 AM

We have had bostons for the last 9 years or so. They are a fabulous breed and I do not think we would ever not own one. We lost one of ours in November and it was super tough on our little girl-she still misses her something fierce :-( For now we have Lexie who is a tank black & white brindle and Tigger a sleek red guy. They are very smart and wonderful to have around. Both of the bostons we have now we rescued from breeders.
I would post pictures but they are on my laptop that I am waiting for hubby to fix the power supply for me.
Hugs
April
