When my kids were babies, we used to make a dilute mixture of chlorine bleach and automatic dish washer powder. You put it in a bucket with some water and soak the garment.

Oxyclean does wonders for me.

Dawn dishwashing liquid is the best stain remover I have found. Put a few drops on stain let set for a few minutes, then wash as usual.

Thanks for all your help. I did use washing up detergent and rubbed gently and it took some of the stain away but there is still residue. I only air dry my clothes on the clothes line. I never put them in the clothes dryer. I may have to see if I can buy oxyclean here in Australia.

All of the suggestions are great! I was once told (by a woman who's husband was a mechanic) that grease removes grease, i. e. dawn for the grease stains. I use Oxyclean religiously. You have to let the garment soak for 24 hrs or more. Don't give up. Good luck!

For tomato stains I hang it in the sun after washing. Is the grease a black grease or just an oil stain? For oil spots (cooking oil, etc.) I sprinkle with talc or cornstarch, rub in and let it sit for a few days to allow the talc to absorb the oil. Then brush off with a stiff brush.

Grandma's Secret Spot Remover is the best. I had a stain on one my tops, it had been there for a while, I had tried everything, nothing seemed to work. I used Grandma's on it and it took it completely out. It had been washed several times and dried in the dryer, but it still took it out. Most quilt stores, Hobby Lobby has it, you can order it on line through Quilt in a Day site.

Dawn dish soap is the best on grease. Efferdent is awesome on food stains. 2 or 3 tablets in warm water leave over night and it's gone.

Yes, Sard soap is good. Did you try eucalyptus oil? I find it is magic.
