good thing he's not a quilter!

Granna of 5 12-22-2010 05:24 PM

No way could I live in that. Where would my stash go? I got short of breath just viewing it.

DawnMarie 12-22-2010 05:25 PM

No. There's no sewing space. My 4 sewing machines take up more room than available in that thing! lol
I guess, if I wasn't a quilter....

kbs 12-22-2010 05:30 PM

No, I don't think sew.

Tink's Mom 12-22-2010 05:32 PM

nope, couldn't do it...I can't take close spaces and I think that might qualify. Besides, my sewing machines take up more space than his kitchen.

amandasgramma 12-22-2010 05:33 PM

No -- that's the size of my sewing room!!!! My room is 10 feet by 10 feet. I can't fit everything I want in here as it is!!!!!!!!!

wanderingcreek 12-22-2010 05:38 PM

I couldn't do it. I couldn't handle the closed in feeling in the bedroom and there would be no room for quilting. Where would you layout a quilt for sandwiching? Cute house though!

No way...too small yikes!

quiltsRfun 12-22-2010 05:56 PM

No place for my stash. :)

isnthatodd 12-22-2010 06:02 PM

My longarm would definitely not fit!!!

stewyscrewy 12-22-2010 06:07 PM

I would love to live in it. Can you imagine how much your utility bills would cost in that smal house. Not to mention your mortgage payemnts would be.

It would be an adventure and force us to GET OUTSIDE! It has wheels, so it is movable - heck, you could live in a parking lot! nawwwwwwwwwwww. Hey, what about living in that house, and getting one of those nice sheds at Lowe;s JUST FOR sewing equipment? That would work!

amma 12-22-2010 07:07 PM

No Way!! Even if I wasn't a quilter LOL I lived in a 32 ft travel trailer for a while and that was too small too LOL

patchsamkim 12-22-2010 07:09 PM

Cute house...but I couldn't live in it...but...maybe it could be a backyard quilting studio...that might work...could still have storage space within home...it also would be a great play house for kids!

mollymct 12-22-2010 07:14 PM

It's really neat, but I don't think I'd make it. I need a bit more kitchen...and a bathtub. I lived in a rather miniscule apartment right out of college and it was not all that bad, except that it only had a shower. It would be awesome to travel in something like that, like Nancy said, for an adventure!!

MinnieKat 12-22-2010 07:30 PM

My body takes up too much space to live like that. At least he can move around a little, I'd just be able to turn. Couldn't get in the bathroom or the loft I don't think. LOL

Lizzytish 12-22-2010 07:31 PM

NEVER EVER EVER

I would love it! If it were just me I wouldn't want some of the things he has....why have 2 chairs? LOL I don't need company!

OHSue 12-22-2010 07:53 PM

OK, I'm not sleeping without an inner spring, did you see he only had about four things in his closet. That refrigerator wouldn't hold my iced tea supply let alone food! Oh I am soooo spoiled.

trisha 12-22-2010 09:26 PM

Great house if you an ELF!!!

smagruder 12-23-2010 04:01 AM

Claustrophobic me could not handle that, even for a weekend. I guess he quilts outside~! hee hee
It is very creative though.

leatheflea 12-23-2010 04:36 AM

I lived in a house for 4 years that was 600 square feet. Raised my oldest son there, for about 4 days of a year we would have 5 people staying there for the holidays. Tight quarters. I made my daughters queen size quilt in that house. I put a chair from the living room in the kitchen and pushed the rest of the furniture in the living room up against the walls and laid out my quilt sandwich. If someone had come to the front door I couldnt have opened it. Its amazing the space you find when you live in tight spaces. Now my sewing room is what use to be a one car garage. I dont know how we did it, my son misses that house and so do I. Its not about the space or how big it is or the things in it.

quilt3311 12-23-2010 05:32 AM

This wouldn't even hold my machine, cutting table, ironing surface etc. You can also see he doesn't have any children, and probably not a wife as I don't know anyone who would put up with this type living condition.

mcar 12-23-2010 05:35 AM

I could not hear his voice explanation but enjoyed the house on wheels. It would be great for a guy who moved from job to job, like a carpenter/architect - they would carry their home along and always return to a familiar resting spot.

CarrieAnne 12-23-2010 06:14 AM

I would need a bit more room, lol!

julia58 12-23-2010 06:15 AM

I believe I could live in this, by myself. I don't use half of the stuff I have in this house anyway. Not much use is it. Sure could save alot of money.

Aurora 12-23-2010 06:53 AM

I will be living in a 12 x 30 building. I see no problem with it. But I do have a 12 x 20 building that will be my workhop. I also have a 16 x 30 building that I was originally going to live in but may find another use for it. I use to have a four bedroom house and really only used the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom.

The tiny house is a bit extreme, but with good planning you would be surprised just how well we can live. My retirement promise to myself was that I would simplify my life. It does force one to make decision. But I do have a 5 x 12 x 8 foot closet planned. Half will be for part of my stash (the rest will be in the 12 x 20 building; and the other half will be for my current clothes storage.

My workshop will also have a small kitchen using an RV oven and small refrigerator and small sink. It will have a 5 x 6 x 9 foot walk-in storage for craft supplies. I also have a 8 x 27 foot travel trailer which will be a guest house. Everything is paid for except the 12 x 30 and it will be paid off in about 15 months. I have 7 acres and enough storage space for things I do not use on a regular basis. Organization is definitely a must in a small space. For the time being I will use a futon for sitting and sleeping -- if that does not work for me, I will add a bedroom later. The main thing is I do not have a mortgage and my living space can grow as I need more.

OmaForFour 12-23-2010 06:57 AM

By the looks of your avatar, you couldn't! LOL

sandpat 12-23-2010 07:32 AM

Nope...I'd like to say i could, but my "stuff" couldn't even live in that.

That's my idea of thinking........you could have the "shed" all to yourself! But it would be a little cramped for me, I have lived in a 18ft. trailer when I was young but couldn't make it up the ladder these days! :>)

sewnsewer2 12-23-2010 07:42 AM

No way! I'm clostifobic, I need room to stretch.

But, on the other hand, you couldn't be a pack rat.

stitchinwitch 12-23-2010 09:51 AM

don't you think we have been accustomed to being spoiled. Just think of the homeless, or those in Africa that just live in the brush....now picture YOUR home. At least in that small home, we wouldn't be able to have all the chatskies that we all have now. Wouldn't it be an adventure to drive and park throughout the US, stay a while, and then drive off to the next town or state?? A very nice learning experience - would be able to see how the other half lives.

oldlady 77 12-23-2010 09:59 AM

We did the travel thing in a 36 foot 5th wheel and I loved the travel and meeting new people but I sure missed my stuff and had to buy a sewing machine because I hand quilt but don't hand patch.

we have a little motorhome that we use for travel - our longest trip was 50 days so far - it is small for two of course but we are camping and expect it to be inconvenient at times. I could never live in it full time!! When we do use it though I only bring hand work already pretty much ready to work on. We have about 140 square feet maybe so a little bigger than this guys house. At home though my sewing room is bigger than our motorhome!
It is neat for the environment though and for one person who is not a quilter I can see it working.

jbj137 12-23-2010 01:26 PM

I could.
In fact, I have thought about it.
1 machine is enough & buy fabric
for one quilt at a time.
