2 years ago I did 9 afghans for the family! (Done other things before) and swore that I'd never do another crochet article....yeah, right. My daughter and family who lie next door tells me she (they) like to put an afghan under their quilt because its so much warmer. Uh-huh, their bed is a California King log bed!!! Decided I would make 2 so they can drag them to the couch if desired and each can have their own colors! ( I did 4 rows last night.) *sigh*

I just started taking crochet lessons. I went to a local business that a lady has in her basement. I will be attending my third class this week. I wanted to learn so I could make things for my grandson, (he is now 6 days old). It is a lot of fun. I like it because it can be done while watching tv. Enjoy.

Crocheting is really easy to learn and if you start with small projects, some can easily be finished in a single evening. I like to do both thread crochet and yarn crochet and have even used thread crochet patterns for filet crochet with yarn to make lightweight shawls. I think my favorite holiday project to crochet is little angels that can hang on the tree or sit on a shelf.

You will so love crocheting. Nana (my GGma) taught me when I was little and I have enjoyed making clothes for my kids and grandkids, afghans, scarves and doilies. You name it and I have probably made it and I can take it anywhere. I like that it relieves the tedium in waiting rooms!

Crochet? It is fun

I recently taught myself to crochet. I started out doing a simple baby blanket and made 3 to donate for needy families.
Then I decided I wanted to learn to crochet using thread and have finished my first doily. Now I am making some very pretty bookmarks to make for Christmas.
I do this while watching TV with my hubby in the evenings.

crochet is awesome! I can barely remember learning, was so youg! Love making granny square afghans, as you can take a few squares with you and work on them just about anywhere!

My mom taught me to crochet when I was 9 or so. It is very therapeutic. I like to crochet in the evenings while watching tv - there's not enough light to sew.

If you can find someone to show you the basics it's the easiest way to start. Using the slip stitch, single crochet and double crochet you can create all kinds of wonderful things. After you get the basics down use Youtube for crochet tutorials - you can find everything there. It's a wonderful hobby, I love to crochet, and if you buy yarn on sale it's not an expensive hobby.

I used to crochet and loved it. Lately, I've taken to embroidery. Embroidered quilts feed both passions.
