One time I handed the phone to my DGS. He must have been about 6 or so. He thought the call was for him, he asked they lady if she wanted a play date with him. She must not have quite figured out she had a child on the phone. After a few moments he said, 'You come to my house and play and then I can go to your house and play.' She hung up on him. Six year olds love having phone calls.

Where's the fast come back when you need them? That was a good one. Wish I could remember it.

[QUOTE=jeank;5358066]Many years ago I received one for new siding and windows. I just went into fake crying and said my husband left me, I have all these children and have had to go on welfare. But my windows are drafty and the children are sick. Do they think welfare would pay for the new windows?

They dont stay on the phone long after hearing that.

I had to laugh at this one because when they would call me about, new windows, siding, roof, etc. I would tell them that we didn't own the home we where living in. Never called again. The thing is that we were making house payment, but the bank had the note, so I didn't feel like I was lying to much. LOL. I love to play games with them. :p

I have started answering my un-known callers by saying "Hello this is Becky's Helpers & Cat Rescue, how can I help you?" Which this is no lie. They hang up right away. I guess they are afraid that I might ask them for a donation. LOL. I keep hoping that they will list me as a business (non-profit) except for all the cat purrs & leave me alone. Aren't we just awful.

Hilarious! But the calls are not so, we get them too, even though we are on the do not call list. I'm wondering if the list is a way for them to get everyone's phone number so they don't miss calling one! Seriously, it's such a nuisance.

Your response sounds great, I might try something like that next time...

We get a telemarketer call from a cruise ship line on our cell phone! And we do get the ones about credit card debt, I have told them to take us off their list. Because we have NO debt!!
Only payments we make are the truck payment and the mortgage. Utilities are a part of life so they don't go into the debt category.

I got that call soon after we moved into the current house we live in. I told the lady the house is only 5 yrs old, it doesn't need new windows. And could she personally call back in about 25 yrs and then we can talk new windows. :)

You all tickled my fancy with your creative responses to these unwanted calls - I think I'll sit down and brainstorm a few with my hubby for the upcoming months - Lord knows we'll all be getting a crazy amount for this upcoming national election.

At one time I had thousands in CC debt but it was all at 0% interest. I would get the calls offering to "lower my interest rate." I would ask, How much lower than ZERO can you get?
