Make allowances for bad days and forgive them unconditionally.

Married nearly 36 years, we said from the get-go that divorce was not an option. Some things can't be tolerated, like abuse, addiction, but short of those intolerables, things can always be worked out. Sometimes it's harder than others, but the payoff of a long and loving marriage is worth it.

My DH and I have 41 years together under our belt, and we truly believe that communication is vital to a good marriage.

Marry for love not lust. Respect that goes both ways and know when to walk away instead of proving you are right.

Love, honor, cherish and bite your tongue.

We have been married 39 years so far. My first husband did a lot of things that have helped me to appreciate the second.

Speak the 5 Love Languages (from Gary Chapman). You will be a loving person & it will come back to you.[Quality time, affirming words, receving gifts, acts of service, and touching.]

I was married 34 years, so here are a couple thoughts. Do not put your children first in every thing. This makes a man feel like he is not needed or wanted. Set aside time to talk with him about his day, your day and just share. You have to feed him with affection/attention every day, like your cat or dog. When he wants to attend a function that you don't care about, go any way cause it is important to him. Don't use sex as a weapon on him even though you are not in the mood.

If you must fight, fight naked---you can't stay upset very long! Seriously, don't sweat the small stuff and realize that almost everything is small stuff!
