They already have your password when you sign up for the account...that is why all email services have the "forgot password?" button.

Thanks everyone..my gut told me no but ...then I started wondering if any other hotmail users received it.. probably like 10 gazillion of us LOL

Sounds like a scam. I would NEVER send that information in an email. Reputable companies don't send requests for this kind of information.
