How I Feel About the New Site...

I know there was a lot of angst when it was rolled out, but I have to say:

I LOVE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are so many features with the new version that make my use of the site easier. So, a month or so after the fact, I'd just like to say thanks to the developers and the moderators who helped us with the transition.

gollytwo 11-29-2011 10:26 AM

me too
I just wish each day's new threads were separate.
It's a bother to have to scroll thru many pages to find new listings.

Normabeth 11-29-2011 10:41 AM

I agree - would also like to know if I already read the post - can't remember every title that Iread

When I read a thread, it changes color on my screen.

Sort of how I feel about my DH -

I care enough about it most of the time to try to continue to work with it - but some days it would be very easy to walk away and not look back.

After you log in, if you scroll down to the very bottom of the page you will see a black bar with white writing. I think the second option is archives, click it and click pictures or whatever and it shows you all the newest posts.

CarrieC 11-29-2011 11:18 AM

I love it but if I could have anything - it would be to sort the postings by origin date. So I could see today's new posts first.

The new site is really nice - and I find, now that I'm used to it, that it is feeling like home.

I am glad to see the positive reply but after a month I strongly disagree and have even stopped bothering to sort through the remarks for so many I have read and didn't know it. Also I find less interesting threads even when I find a new one. maybe I am burned out and am sorry but I miss the friendly back and forth of easy conversation about quilting on an easy to use site I could go on and see in almost a glance what appeals to me. Maybe if I don't look for a month after the holidays I will try again and be pleasantly surprised? If anyone has a cheerful word or reply to me I'd appreciate it.

Tartan 11-29-2011 11:39 AM

I like the new site but I don't use some of the new features. I still don't know the correct way to repond to PM's so I'm just hoping I'll eventually figure it out. I had a hard time adjusting at first but I kept reminding myself that the same great quilters are still here so the format shouldn't matter.

That's what I do. Makes it so much easier for me.

babindg12200 11-29-2011 11:59 AM

Me too. Thank you all for all your hard work. LOve it!

khquilter 11-29-2011 12:22 PM

I'm not sure if I like the new site. How do you bookmark
things you want to keep?

DebraK 11-29-2011 12:49 PM

I'm liking it too ;-)

laadw 11-29-2011 12:51 PM

I am still getting use to the new site. Has been a bit of a shock being locked out of things I was previously allowed to do.

Just last week mine started changing color after reading a thread.

dixiechunk 11-30-2011 04:06 AM

Well, I am truly happy for those who have figured it out. But I still have not figured it out and don't intend to waste any more time trying. I read the handful of posts on the opening page and that's all. But I have more time to actually quilt now!

Hi Babindg, I really like your avatar quilt. Gives me an idea for doing one for my own state.

alleyoop1 11-30-2011 04:44 AM

Wish I could figure out how to post a picture. I wanted to post my newest quilt. I do miss the old format, but using 'archive' does make it close to the old way. Just posting photos has me stumped.

If you click on 'archives' on the bottom of the page, you will see all the new threads in order of posting, they also change color when you read them.

I'm a relatively new member, so I don't know if I have a right to an opinion yet, but, I find that it's really hard for me to search. Hard to see new posts. Just more complicated. I can't find my posts, so I can't see if anyone has responded. I don't visit nearly as much as I did when I first became a member.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I used to look at the unread topics each day, but I haven't found a satisfactory substitute. There are too many topics to wade through now and I don't want to spend that much time at it. I'm looking only at the digest now, but even there the topics are repetitive from one day to the next. It's very disappointing. While there are some features I like very much, none make up for this one major pain in the rear.

I agree with you. I liked the emails that were sort of "here's what to read"! So many tics are the same from day to day, I only check once in a while. I must be really dense as I can see others like it.

Agreed, and well said.

THANKS Terry, Hugs for helping me get to my main reason for looking here. Like a lot of others, I'm still having trouble getting around this new set-up. Don't spend a much time as I did with the old site and really miss saying "hello" to all the newbies.
Blessings and "Happy Holidays" to you and all the quilting family here.!!!!!

Illinois Quilter 11-30-2011 09:39 AM

I just want to say "Many Thanks". The titles are now changing color and staying that way. It really helps and I appreciate it.

mayday 11-30-2011 10:39 AM

I still hate it, can't for the life of me think why change was necessary.

luvstitches 11-30-2011 11:58 AM

Oh boy do I wish to have the old site back.

lynnefaye 11-30-2011 01:29 PM

I am with you, justme. It makes me sad that I am too dense to navigate in a useful way. I have enjoyed reading the board so a long time. When I stop by now I try to pick up a few new threads. Sure miss my bookmarks, saw someone said there is a way but I can't even find the directions to save anything and sure can't find the old ones. Looks like many have figured it out. Thought I had a smidgen of tech savvy but am proved wrong.

alderdweller 11-30-2011 01:37 PM

Do not like the "new and improved" version.

cherrio 11-30-2011 02:07 PM

hahahaha
question how do we start a new topic?

It took me a long time to get used to it but slowly I'm getting there - as for the subject changing color mine turns to a bold bright purple so I know I've been in there already

I'm not being snarky here, but what are these "many features" of which you speak so highly. I am thinking I am seriously not getting the most out of this new forum and probably because I don't know how. But please, could you just list the improved features so that I can try and figure them out. TIA

overdew 11-30-2011 04:30 PM

Doesn't feel as comfortable as an old pair of shoes, but I'm getting there! The fear of the unfamiliar is beginning to subside! I think I like it!

ranger 12-01-2011 04:20 AM

Takes a while to learn all the good stuff but it is definitely worth it.

damaquilts 12-01-2011 04:28 AM

I think its growing on me . There are some things I haven't done yet like post any pictures. But I figure its going to get easier the more I use it. PM's I have used and I think its really cool that a little window pops up to tell you one is there. Sometimes I forget . So to all that are having a hard time persevere you will get use to it.

MamaHen 12-01-2011 06:05 AM

Like many this new site is growing on me. I was one of the skeptics at first but even though I didn't like the change I kept coming back. Every time I picked up something about how the site works and have posted along with posting a picture. There are some things I like about it and a few I still don't understand but sure I will in time. I have gone in and adjusted the format to suit me, like getting 40 post on a page, can navigate through them quicker, figured out how to change fonts, color and size. I guess it is all in the growing process. Now I need to go back and read some more.

Geri B 12-01-2011 06:58 AM

I don't log in, I get an email and click on it and brings me to a page......but not always the most recent things....and somedays it is slow in responding to the mouse click!! and does not change color on that screen I would have to go to recent topics for that feature and I don't like it at all.......I tried to bookmark something the other day and could not find out how.........sorry gals but this is not working for me...I guess I am a dinosaur and like the old ways better......

sunni 12-01-2011 07:10 AM

Count me in as one that still doesn't like the "new" board. I find myself logging in only once or twice a week rather than daily.
