I learned to knit when I was 12 yrs old & was taught by the dad of one of my friends. He learned to knit while battling an alcohol addiction as he wanted something that would keep both hands busy. That man could knit the most fabulous sweaters. I also crochet & learned to do that when I was 21 yrs old. I got away from doing both of this crafts for many yrs, but now that I live in MO I have started doing them again and really enjoy it. I wish I lived close enough to help you with this pattern.

I am also a knitter. Right now I have a Fisherman sweater I'm making for a friend. It's the classic off white wool. I can't leave anything well enough alone either. I don't like all the fill-in seed stitch so I always add another cable or something unique. Knitting helps when I think I can't sew another stitch. It's nice to have a fall back hobby. Unfortunately I have way too many fall backs! : )

I knit and crochet, but am not real good at either, so I am no help with your peacock problem. Wanted to tell Rita222 how delightful her sweaters were.....

I learned to knit many years ago but got away from it for a while. I started making socks a year or so ago and remembered how much I enjoyed it. I am now making a jacket cover up. I love quilting and knitting. If I would let myself, there would be no time for cleaning, cooking and laundry. LOL

I knitted mostly dishcloths when my DH was in hospital with by-pass surgery. What an easily mindless thing to do in the evening while watching TV. Then I found a Knitting Nanny in the area and she has encouraged us all the challenge ourselves. It takes me a long time to knit a sweater as quilting is my choice. I agree that your count may be off, thus throwing it all off. I don't think the y/o matches the peacock one. I would love that pattern as we had peacocks when we lived up in the mountains of Montana.
