Part of my not sewing lately has to be not wanting to be away from him right now. Nothing else matters as much as him in my life. My sewing room is down the hallway, and it's winter here now, so to sew in the evening I have to shut the door and turn my little heater on. Normally I love it, I'm cocooned in my little room in my own little world. But after the scare the other night, I want to be able to see him, or hear him at least, and know that he's ok.

Amazing how basic we really are, isn't it? I'm glad you got the insight.
Sorry to hear about your not so fun excitement. Glad to hear it turned out to be not so bad as it could have been.
Misfortunes tend to help us realize just how fragile we humans are, and how quickly things can change, up or down.
I try to plan handwork or quiet sewing time in the livingroom with hubby when he is home ... I don't have to be looking deeply into his eyes every moment, but being able to just "be" together helps us a lot.
And, now! Your five minutes are up! <g>

Blue - sorry i missed this until now! So sorry you've been having a bad time. I hope it's going better now; as usual, looks like you got great support and advice from the ladies here. Here's a HUG for you, dude! xxx

when going through a rough patch and i cant get motivated to sew what works for me is i just say to myself 'i will just sew one seam' and before you know it i am happily sewing away again and reluctantly put away everything to cook dinner etc....you may have to do that several times before you can really enjoy your me time again..otherwise maybe try some hand sewing then you can spend more time with your other half..my sewing area is in the lounge so i am around everyone and sometimes i wish i had my own room to escape the madness to!!

Aren't we funny creatures?

Sometimes I can hardly stand to have my family around, but I know I would miss them if they were truly gone.

Blue, I guess I can't say anything that hasn't already been said. I send you a big hug and positive energy for your partner. IMHO, quilting will always be waiting for me (thank goodness!) but sometimes we just need to focus on the more important things. When I am finally able to get some of my desire and motivation back for sewing, it's the best therapy EVER!

When I was talking to my husband yesterday, I came to the conclusion that, with my quilting, I am much happier and eager to work on it when I don't have a deadlilne. I think some people get motivated by deadlines, but that's when it becomes work instead of fun.

sounds funny, but I mean it! what were those sex therapists names?
(years ago), they would have ppl that were bored do things, but
NO SEX...go, sit in your sewing area, with no pressure to do anything.
The urge will come back, eventually.
(funny, it doesn't always work that way with, sex, lol!  )

Can I have sex IN my sewing room?!? ;-)

Blue, if you feel up to having sex in your sewing room, I hear it's a great stress reliever...did you catch that - I 'hear', part, lol!
(I could never have sex in my cave...
too many young uns in there! )

Oh Lordy, QnC, I reeeeeelllly hate to admit it, but it was Masters & Johnston. Crud, I'm old.

you hit the nail on the head. ain't it funny, that they ended up divorced?
So, proof right there, a good marriage is much more than sex.

I can appreciate good music - doesn't mean I can produce/do it

I suppose the same could be said for (fill in the blank)
