I named my DD's Jaclyn (Jackie) and Jacy because I liked the names, but 20 years later I wish I had not done that. Even though Jackie is a brunet and Jacy is a red head, teachers mixed them up all through school. Jacy's vacation pay was just added to Jackie's pay check at work, and Jacy's scolarship money to pay tusion and books was placed in Jackie's account, and according to Ivy Tec, Jacy is not even registered. Ivy Tec thought Jacy was a nic name for Jaclyn. Yeh sure they both work in the same place and attend the same college, but come on, they have different names and middle initials and they don't look anything alike. I guess because I'm mom I just see their personalities. So if I had to do it over I think I would not name them both with names starting with the same letter.

My kids colleges won't do anything without their ID number - probably to avoid exactly the problems you mention.

Their ID numbers are their SS number. But they still get the information wrong.

I have the same name as another woman, not related at all ( well they say distant cousins some where many generations back  ) This is my given name at birth, hers by marraige. She is about 25 years (?) older then me and we oth live on the same street and have for 22 years but about 13 blocks apart. we only meet for the first time about 20 years ago I am 46 now.

Want to talk about a MESS , she always gets my mail, I get hers , docs screw it up , insurance companies , pharmacies.. you name it  And using middle initials hasn't helped either

My Dad and Brother have the exact smae name AND live on the same street, a few miles apart!!!!!!!!!!!
Get each others mail, bills, packages, the propane guy even filled the wrong tank, lol!!

documents are never supposed to use "nicknames" So, their reasoning is kind of void :D

my DH is a jr.
alot of his fathers stuff shows up on his credit report alot.
i thought the whole purpose of asking for socials and ID #s was to avoid the hassle similar names cause.
Seems too many people are too lazy to actually bother checking #s.

the last time i counted there were 7 women, either in the US Army or working for the Army, with my first and last name. i get email intended for at least half of them.

one works on pay issues for Army doctors. so i know whenever one thinks he got underpaid. funniest thing ... she never hears from one who thinks he got overpaid.

one works in the Washington, DC area. every time she orders from a particular group of catalog companies, i get the shipping notifications. she's now very careful about what she orders from them.

one is a captain. i always know when she changes duty stations, gets promoted, or changes jobs. if i didn't automatically forward them, she wouldn't get a lot of the memos, reports or other important correspondence she needs to do her job.

when i retire, i don't know how they'll get their email or know when a package has shipped.

There is someone who lives not far from me who has the same name, is around the same age, & sees most of the same doctors that I do. I once was having surgery & the surgeon had the wrong records in front of him. I only discovered the error when he spoke of a previous surgery that I did not have. I had a gynocological exam denied by insurance as they said I already had an exam that year - which I did not.

I haven't had any of these nightmares some of you have had.
Just a sort of funny here.........
When my son graduated from college they called out his name as Michael- his name is Mark but his brother is Michael and Michael didn't go to the same college so obviously it was just a mistake. Michael was standing next to me and said " Wow, I graduated a year earlier than I was supposed to"!! We laughed over that one.
I spent their whole childhoods getting teased " Where's Luke"??
(Matthew, Mark, Michael) It got old after awhile haha :D
On top of the joke getting stale we never thought about it when naming them, just liked the names!!
